It’s not funny but hoping they were teleported to a Waffle House, at worst.

Seriously, they better be okay. 🫶🏼

The Point Live: Business and gas companies have their say on gas tax proposals. Representatives from the Business Council, Shell and ConocoPhillips are among those fronting the gas tax senate inquiry today, while the health minister lays out proposed changes to the NDIS.

Shell Oil suggested they were putting $1m into the Aus Energy Producers advert campaign because its adverts need to meet "Advertising Standards" "unlike those from The Australia Institute"

So @jack-thrower.bsky.social & I decided to fact check their advert

It was yuck, even if it was just in the House Intel Committee under Trump the First. They were the tag-team obstructionists.

My list of taxpayer grievances gets longer every day under Trump. At least my taxpayer grievances under Dems helps more than one pocket.

Reuters, New York Times Top List of Fossil Fuel Industry’s Favorite Media Partners Taking a hard look at the media industry’s relationship with the fossil fuel industry.

So uhhhh Reuters quietly shitcanned its climate team right around the same time WaPo did. Except maybe even more cowardly because they kept it under wraps. Not a great look given the abundance of oil money they take in between sponsored content and events.

Liquidating an "Empire": China's Strategy to Capitalise on US Hegemonic Strain | by Wu Xinbo "Whilst avoiding systemic conflict with the US, how can we employ an effective and precise negotiating strategy to harvest the strategic resources that the US is selling for the smallest cost?"

A Chinese strategy paper by Wu Xinbo argues that America under Trump is an empire in a state of profound rot and decline, and this presents distinct opportunities to China. Beijing's objective should not be to attack or provoke America,

Let's TALK climate Loud, clear. No more hushing.

This is how cities can very quickly lose the great reputation, and competitive positioning, that other cities would kill for. Montreal built that reputation and positioning over years of smart leadership. It can disappear shockingly fast.

Elections really do matter. #Montreal

Still thinking about why ice hockey (men’s only…)was the *only* sporting Olympic hill Trump wanted to die on.

Could it be that the sport breathes white supremacy at the core?

This Isn't Trading. It's Theft from Your Retirement. Someone keeps making perfectly-timed bets right before the President speaks. The victims are your pension, your 401(k), and the country I took an oath to defend.

Fifteen minutes before the President announced he was pausing strikes on Iran, somebody moved $500 million in oil futures. Somebody knew. Somebody told them. Or somebody is them.

Texas republicans illegally gerrymandered their maps and never once asked voters how they feel about it.

California and Virginia let voters decide.

That’s the difference. They started this fight and Democrats are going to fucking finish it.

Then reality TV came along. Now it’s every sucker for themself and screw the losers. (Dems still playing sitcom)

Yes. US science needs a Marshall Plan to rebuild in future. We will not fix science by just waiting and hoping the pendulum swings back.

One key:
Supreme Court reform is an absolute requirement. This SCOTUS will not allow the science agencies to do their jobs; it will inject politics.

Appropriations are the closest thing to the will of the electorate there is, however problematic. Failure to exercise the appropriations is a tremendous breach. Any “post trump” order should include current NSF leadership in prison.
