Taking the "pose of the day" from posemaniacs.com and applying it to the first thought that entered my head with it today as a practice, and to practice not using a direct Google Earth landscape for once and try to paint it similar to Scream's style. Alessandra is several miles tall and standing perilously close to downtown San Francisco, having just taken a couple steps out of the Pacific Ocean.
Sometimes you just need to calm down and practice your Tai Chi in a comfortable place until the world just shrinks away...

I know there's fancier tools, like Aegissub too, but i haven't used it myself.
This was just for handmaking subtitles, I'm not too well-versed on differences between them and closed captions off the top of my head.
I've done subtitles by hand. There's an online tool I used here:

Otherwise you have to wait 90m or so with nothing blocking up, like input command or message boxes. The game will warn you it's getting dark too! Eventually night will fall. If you're on the Pandora's Box quest, you can still progress without the scarab!
Once you get the scrab (locked behind starting the Pandora's Box quest) and the fruit (locked behind lantern+flute, which are day-only), it will automatically advance the clock to night.
It is possible to miss the scarab, but only for a while.
The game will automatically advance to night after so much game time passes. Transitioning to night changes the world state which blocks you from some screens and activities, like as you saw can't visit dwarves anymore.
