The AmNews team is preparing our #BlackHistoryMonth special section launching Sunday, February 1. This year we mark "A Century of Black History Commemorations" honoring the 100th anniversary of the celebration initiated by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926.
The Media 2070 Campaign for Media Reparations calls for the immediate release of Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, Trahern Jeen Crews and Jamael Lydell Lundy and an end to the harassment of journalists working to shine the light of truth in the darkness.
Arresting Black journalists for covering a protest is a violation of the most basic principles of the 1st amendment. This administration is determined to deny not only the constitutional rights of its citizens and residents, but the human rights of all who oppose its racist agenda.
the arrest of journalists in minneapolis, including don lemon, is more evidence that the only move the administration knows how to make is to use force, and does not know how to respond when that force is met with defiance and indifference.
Our very own @josephtorr.bsky.social has a great interview with @fairmediawatch.bsky.social on how the Trump administration's attacks on the press connect to its assaults on Black and Brown people. Listen here: fair.org/home/joseph-...
