Honestly (sadly) have to go back to midseason last year for the last time I was this hyped for a Mets win.

Memes don't work for the Mets anymore, maybe being the butt of a joke from a similarly mediocre baseball team('s social media account) can be their inspiration?
Even with their best starter on the mound and any given team's worst, I do not believe the current Mets team can beat any of the other 29 MLB ballclubs. The bullpen and offense is just that bad. They truly are what their record indicates; the worst team in all of baseball.
The cover of the 1993 book "The Worst Team Money Could Buy", which covered the many failings of the 1992 New York Mets
If it's any consolation, the Mets have like five or six garbage time runs where they cut a 13-2 lead down to 13-4 (so give it a few days to overtake the Phils). Also I feel like even if we can't be mathematically eliminated this early, we'll be too far back to even contemplate contending.
I remember! Hence the dig. But really, I'm envious of any team that has team that has a World Series ring this millennium (like the Phils), so I'd even rather be a White Sox fan at this point. At least when they were breaking records for losing a few years back they had the payroll to match!
I never thought I'd ever be jealous of Phillies fans... but here we are.
If folks finally gel on the field and start hitting (and Soto comes back at 100 percent soon) we can MAYBE play out the rest of the season at .500, but this team isn't gonna be in sniffing distance of the playoffs without major changes (personnel changes and lineup overhaul).
A third of the position players are in spots they're not supposed to be. Nobody hits well, especially in the clutch. The only place we're not struggling is 3/5 starters but the other 2 are guaranteed losses each time through the rotation. Regardless of who starts, the bullpen can't keep it close.
The Mets really fucking suck.
We're not even 20 games into this Mets season and I'm already bargaining with myself that certain things will be "our World Series" since the real thing is looking unlikely. First up on the list -- beating Ohtani and/or Diaz tomorrow.
Judging by how the Mets just got swept by the Nowhere Athletics , word still hasn't reached the tri-state area.
I gotta hand it to the Mets for diversifying the ways they lose games. After two days of pitiful offensive efforts, today they spiced it up with a "get slaughtered at early in the game, valiantly come back to almost tie it up in the middle innings, then get slaughtered again late in the game" loss
Went from "it's so over" to "we're so back" within the first five outs, so the first inning of the Mets 2026 season is feeling just like the last 35 years of my fandom.
I kept putting on the game during dinner with the intention of catching this moment and ended up missing it. Turns out I didn't miss much!
Oof, I got spoiled by an unofficial (ie non-Bradygames) strategy guide I was just thumbing through at Borders. Bam, two page spread with screencaps of the big spoiler scene.
As a Survivor fiend I kinda tuned out after Rob C got murdered early but I was enjoying Yam Yam calling Rapaport out on his shit.
Would have loved to have HALF of these in the US instead of just "White" or "Sports".
One of my favorite YouTube channels now has a jam-packed Patreon full of awesome extras! Tony does great deep dives on games without going negative like so many other channels do.
I always preferred these to the daily calendars, which leaned far too hard into post-season 10 trivia after like two years. If there was a daily calendar solely focused on the first decade, I'd buy it every year (I mean it, as a guy who used to print out Simpsons trivia questions from the library)
As if the Mets offseason couldn't get any worse... I'm hearing reports they've just traded Bullfrog for "Four Eyes" Shottenhoffer.
Congrats on your 2026 World Series victory.
Having not played Fortnite since literally the week it launched (ie, back in the pre-Battle Royale days), I thought I could wait for the Back to the Future content to launch and play the Simpsons stuff too. But... you can't... right?
Heck of a series, lots of drama, everything I love about baseball... I am now ready to not care about baseball daily for five months (or however many weeks it takes before the Mets sign or lose Diaz/Alonso).
Welp, at least the Yankees didn't win this year.
Thought I feel like the drunk bad husband cop lead character can't have any positive responses when speaking to his wife (only on the phone).
Every year in the MLB playoffs my rooting interests go in this order:
1- The Mets (this rarely happens)
2- Whoever opposes the Yankees (this frequently happens)
3- Whoever has the longest playoff drought.
So at this point... go anyone except the Dodgers or Phillies!
Eh, baseball giveth and baseball taketh away. Last year was their best season in at least a decade, this year just... wasn't. Their billionaire owner is dedicated to (eventually) getting a World Series win and I do believe it will happen... it just won't happen as soon as we thought.
