I’ve been taking a break from romance to read Dungeon Crawler Carl, and I have been thoroughly enjoying myself.

i also love reading the acknowledgements, and i'm also grateful for them because I've had at least a few editing clients find me through them.

i'm gonna be honest, everytime i see this story, i assume it's a cry for help from a reporter who really wanted to cover the same thing DT is doing to the entire fucking infrastructure of our country, but instead here they thinking, "it's an allegory, surely everyone will see it."

Every time I read a piece about somebody with an “ai-assisted editing process” I feel like I’m watching someone trying to intellectualize a deliberate choice not to think or concentrate

It is DEEPLY important to get non-millionaires, non-tech-industry-hacks, and non-Wall-Street people onto Boards of Trustees of Colleges and Universities. I've seen @syed.nyc in action in the Working Families Party and hope you'll vote for him if you're a Wesleyan grad.

Graphic that reads "No cover, no title, no author. Will the quick summary alone make you click this deal? 😉📚". The background is a navy blue with various colros of small circles, triangles, and rectangles floating around.

The ton's favorite rake is finally ready to change his ways after he runs into the heroine. Meet-cute: he was climbing out a window at a ball.

It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.

No amount of AI literacy can protect us because the problem isn’t knowledge, or how to use the system, it’s that the system exists in a culture that has been radically structured around white supremacy and patriarchy and your precious autocomplete incorporates it into its operations.

“The Mohegan Tribe chose to invest in women’s basketball at a time when male billionaires refused. It’s ironic, then, that the WNBA is now prioritizing NBA owners when those very owners turned their back on the league two decades ago.”

On Learning to Read Generously - Reactor What does it mean to be a generous reader, and is it a skill you can practice?

I've been referencing this essay by @mollytempleton.com a lot lately in conversations about reading fantasy and other literature. Templeton's piece includes a discussion of Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick's useful ideas about 'paranoid' and 'reparative' approaches to reading. reactormag.com/on-learning-...

true crime brain has fucked people up so bad and they get really mad when you point that out. and also that the entire true crime industry is predatory and exploitative

I said it before and I'll say it again:

Giving a pack of Epstein associates a comprehensive list of all children in the country with home address and school listed, sortable by various traits that indicate vulnerability to exploitation, is the literal diametric opposite of keeping kids safe.

Chicago Books to Women in Prison Chicago Books to Women in Prison is an all-volunteer organization that sends free books to women and trans people in prison nationwide.

YALL.

There is a charitable organization in Chicago that donates books to women’s prisons. My boyfriend introduced me to it!!!

Yall support!! This is AMAZING. Women’s prisons do NOT get anywhere near the donations men’s do. That’s why my own organization exists.
