Trans people are exhausted.

Non-stop fighting, writing, documenting, archiving, pleading, begging, hiding, crying and more.

Exhausted.

I have been considering similar tbh.

It's really funny how Starmer was billed as the man to defend our precious norms ahead of the 2024 election

4 days ago 4 0 0 0

I'm truly not sure which is worse. If Keir Starmer was informed and is lying about it or that he is so absent as PM that important decisions are taken for him by officials. At least lying about what he knew, while intolerable, would show there is someone in charge and taking an interest.

All the demeaning ways Home Office expects LGBTQ+ migrants to 'prove' themselves With comments suggesting LGBTQ+ asylum seekers are pretending to be gay, how do you successfully prove your sexuality to the UK Home Office?

In light of the BBC claiming that asylum seekers are falsely claiming to be gay in order to gain asylum, here is an article about the difficulties and humiliations LGBT asylum seekers have experienced trying to prove their identities.

The BBC undercover investigation into false immigration claims is deeply irresponsible journalism. It does not highlight that exploitation by unregulated advisors occurs because legal aid was cut and the system is insane to navigate.

5 days ago 764 257 26 12

And the likely immediate outcome of the article is to prevent people from Pakistan from obtaining student visas if Jo White, the Labour MP quoted, gets her way.

6 days ago 27 3 1 0

The headline is also a lie. They found people OFFERING to help people fake being gay to claim asylum in exchange for £1000s. There's no evidence this led to anyone succeeding. One guy says he knows people who've succeeded – which clearly hasn't been verified. You can't hang a headline on that.

Legal advisers help migrants pose as gay to get asylum, undercover BBC investigation finds The BBC exposes a shadow industry charging migrants thousands of pounds to help them cheat the asylum system.

This "investigation" is straight-up incitement against people seking asylum, especially LGBTQ+ people.

No acknowledgement that LGB asylum claims are LESS LIKELY to succeed than other claims. No acknowlegement that the dodgy lawyers are CLEARLY scamming their clients

The deadliest acts of mass violence in the UK in recent years have not been declared terror attacks because, like Southport, they don't meet the legal definition of advancing a cause

The impact of that definition ripples from the bottom to the top of Britain's policing and intelligence structures

This isn't a conflict that would invite nuclear retaliation to the United States; Iran lacks missiles that can reach the territory and thanks to the JCPOA and the late Khamenei's personal opposition to them lacks nuclear warheads. The immediate harm will fall on civilians in a nation of 90 million.

Disabled Folks Are Being Pushed Into Poverty🧵

Two tier support for disabled people is now a reality in the UK and it should upset anyone who believes in fairness and equality.

I receive LCWRA because I cannot work. That hasn’t changed. It won’t. 1/9

I agree the spec is terrible but this part isn't the problem. It would be worse if the service was allowed to keep patients post-18 without a pending GIC referral. The 0 target makes sense, as does quarterly reporting of referrals without a specific target. That does not mean no referrals.

Come out before you kiss: How Trans+ panic snuck its way into UK law books Trans+ people can be convicted for sexual assault just for not coming out before any form of intimacy, under CPS 'deception as to sex' guidance

“Deception as to sex” has the same impact as a Trans+ Panic clause – and has embedded transphobia into the law

At the same time, there is a proposal to stop routinely offering puberty blockers and hormone treatments to under-18s while more evidence is gathered about long-term effects.

At the same time, there is a proposal to stop routinely offering puberty blockers and hormone treatments to under-18s while more evidence is gathered about long-term effects.

This is a sentence that Wes Streeting has genuinely written and I have to ask, is he living in some parallel universe? Completely, totally unmoored from reality.

Text that reads: An amendment to a bill protecting Trans+ rights has removed legal gender recognition for one in five of the world’s Trans+ people, pending assent by India’s president. An amendment to the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act of 2019 proposed by MP Virendra Kumar has passed, removing the rights of Trans+ Indians to self-identify. The right was guaranteed by a Supreme Court ruling in 2014. It is a significant rollback and means that protections offered by the act will now be limited to those who have had surgical transitions, introducing invasive medical examinations - BBC

Have asked editor to amend as I don't want to mislead anyone that an appeal has been lodged. To my knowledge it hasn't.

Just want to be clear I have no new info on this. She announced an intention to appeal after her conviction.

Children ‘incentivised’ to get ADHD and autism diagnoses
Eleanor Hayward - Health Editor , Max Kendix - Political Correspondent
Children and young adults are “incentivised” to get an ADHD or autism diagnosis and there has been a “medicalisation of distress”, a government inquiry has concluded.

The interim report commissioned by Wes Streeting, the health secretary, found there were incentives to seek a diagnosis because it is the “gateway” to unlock access to special adjustments at school and work. There was “credible evidence of increasing psychological distress” behind a rise in mental health diagnoses, it said, but normal difficulties may also “increasingly be interpreted primarily through a medical lens”.

Nearly one in ten young adults “self-identify” as autistic and there has been a particular increase in diagnoses among girls when they move to secondary school. The report said common childhood behaviours such as restlessness were being medicalised.

“Historical analyses show that behaviours in children once regarded as within the range of normal variation, or even as something to be welcomed in some contexts, are now more often interpreted as requiring intervention or treatment,” it said.

In any case, I think all the stories that are going to frame this as being about trans athletes are, at best, a bit misleading. Trans women already weren't competing at the Olympics, with one exception in 20 years.

Here's the real 🚨🚨🚨:
