It just occurred to me to mention the idea that none of us should be saying "Let me take the speck out of your eye," when there is the log in your own eye?
It's so tempting to look at all the specks and ignore all the logs.

“…and we expect everyone to stay for the whole service.” “Yes, that’s my plan. May I have a leaflet?” He finally gave me one. I was wearing vacation clothes (jeans), which I guess is a problem that this church.
So that’s totally not great! Boo, Team Jesus! 2/2
A few years ago, I was in a big US city on holiday. I popped into a church for choral evensong. In the narthex, the usher resisted giving me a leaflet. He said “This is for a church service.” Me: “Yes, that’s why I’m here.” Him: “It’s going to last almost an hour…” 1/2
Gerrymandering is…not great, regardless of who it benefits. You know what’s cool? Proportional representation.

It’s always good to challenge things we think are true but without evidence. So, yeah.
OTOH, I myself have left churches after 2-3 minutes of yuck, and I’ve heard the same for others. So I’m not sure if I were a parish leader, I’d want to conclude that people will stick around for an hour of meh.
New name just dropped.

I hope you will give your feedback to folks at 815. They will benefit from your…perspective.
When I first tried it, it didn’t work at all on mobile. I told them, and they made it better. They’re listening!
Does that mean I can complain to a Standing Commission if I don’t like the onboard snacks?
An aircraft safety brochure for an E170/E175 plane with EOW written on it.
OK, I know I whine about this regularly. I’ve now given up on riding a Rite I plane, but is it too much to hope for a Rite II flight? ✈️ 📕

“He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness still. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and in it there is no cause for stumbling. But he who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness…”
Morning prayer has a word for us. 🔥

Yes, that’s the old (and traditional Anglican) thinking. Much to commend it, I suppose.
However, the 1979 US book is rooted in baptismal ecclesiology which, among other things, effectively rejects a “promotion” model of ordination from one order to the next. Just saying what’s in the book. YMMV!
That’s bananas.
This is my regular reminder that the 1979 prayer book wants to speak of the ordination of deacons, priests, and bishops consistently. So if you like to say “ordination and consecration” for bishops, make sure you use the same lingo for priests and deacons! ⚓️
This is a case where you can be morally virtuous and make a buck! Millions of us want more great journalism. And we need great journalism to defeat fascists. So you can be on the winning side!
Dear @washingtonpost.com. You keep asking me to resubscribe. I unsubscribed when you embraced fascism instead of journalism.
When you make a commitment to journalism and reject fascism, I will gladly resubscribe. Do the right thing—not just because it builds your business, but because it’s right.

Clergy friends, check this out. Then say your prayers. This is a nifty place.
Your profile pic is you talking at a gathering that uses an app named after a three-ring notebook that no longer exists. Church is full of irony and relationships to dead technology.

Wait, are you suggesting history is facts not vibes?
As before, I’m good with kneeling or standing. Prostration, even! But let’s just say we prefer our posture, rather than proof texting to defend our preference.
