I am glad to be able to help. I'm lucky to have a community who have been there with us through all sorts of things. But what if we could just have dinner with friends for fun? Rather than handing off casseroles in infusion centers? Or proverbial funeral potatoes?
Me: I wonder why I'm stuck in such a low mood cycle.
My computer: a dozen tabs of Heated Rivalry fanfic; The Mountain Goats playing; grocery order costs doubled from various Meal Train/mutual aid commitments.
Me: It is a mystery, I guess. We'll never know.
The @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social is so, so, so lucky to have @sarahlamdan.bsky.social on its side

Taking care of elderly parents is a great way to develop a deep hatred for the modern world.
Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.
One of our editors at SABR just pointed out we ought to retire the phrase “men in blue” now that women umpires are (finally!) coming to the major leagues.
I added: the phrase is also anachronistic because the umpires so rarely wear blue!
BREAKING: Maryland is about to become the first state in the nation to ban the use of surveillance data and dynamic pricing at grocery stores.
The Maryland House has just passed the Protection from Predatory Pricing Act.
Governor Wes Moore plans to sign the bill.
At this point I'm convinced it's a little game the other GMs are playing, see who can mess with Jeff the most
A home run on the third (3rd) pitch of the game. So glad my kid is getting the authentic Cubs Season experience.

I know the tweet is Al generated when they use " ," before and.
“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”
‘As Jo Adell awoke one morning from unusual dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into Willie Mays.’
Today MLB TV viewers get their first look at the ads that will slowly drive them insane over the season
Everyone complaining about baseball people on here or who thinks they hate baseball, trust me: no one hates baseball more than the people who love it except for the people who own and/or run the MLB and its broadcasting.
We see publishing fees (APCs) sometimes, and it's hard to tell what's supporting open access and what's a scam. If you need somebody to look something up in Cabells I have Journalytics through work and could do a superficial check.
Heck yeah.

“We'll come out of this. And let me tell you something: If none of us are here to see it, tell your children who the cowards were.”

A picture of a headline from the Baltimore Sun that says "this struggling Baltimore museum costs taxpayers $91 per visit"
Baltimore and beyond, join me in supporting one more visitor to the amazing Reginald F. Lewis museum by donating $91 if you can. Don't let Sinclair Broadcasting determine the value of our cultural heritage.
First they came for Sora and I said "How fast can you take out the other A.I? I want to go back to being able to afford laptops and games consoles"
And still better than the date where we managed to be on different sides of Great Falls. Whoops!
I do recommend somebody who can laugh it off if you hike up a rocky hill believing it to be Little Round Top only to realize the crowded taller adjacent hill turns out to be Little Round Top.
Anyway a baffling decision by us on a hot day and we weren't even wearing wool and carrying riles.
Early in our relationship husband and I did a day trip to Gettysburg. Decided to walk part of the battlefield because history majors.
I hate the framing of “Ms Rachel has found a new cause—“ because no she hasn’t. Advocating for children kidnapped and locked up by ICE is not incompatible with her advocacy of children in Palestine. You just want to make her advocacy sound frivolous and fleeting. She’s being consistent.

An American kestrel perches on an "IMPORTANT BIRD AREA" sign in the Montrose Beach Dunes.
