nothing like writing a paper on church authority to remind me how much trauma I still have around bad church authority
That being said, I am yet another person with a Substack, where I am mostly writing bad liturgical poetry in an attempt to get back into writing at all, so: takingupliminalspace.substack.com
And I also do occasional life updates at thelivingroom.wordpress.com
Also, hey. I took a bit off for Lent and am reconfiguring how I engage with social media because I've realized it's made me both more angry and more legalistic and has taken me away from engaging with my IRL community, all of which are bad for a soul, so you'll probably see less of me around
I mean, say what you want about a God that judges evil, but that thought is what's mostly keeping me sane right now tbh

I'm Texan and I *really* want him to be my senator.
Ok this is not a drill: voting has started in the TX 2026 primary elections
Houston voters: I can't stress this enough - you should be reading the @lwvhouston.bsky.social voter guide, it has literally all the info you need all in one place for free 🧵

I know the world is nuts right now, but you know what, there is some good news, too.
So I'm in an online community that raised money to open the Maternal Center of Excellence in Sierra Leone, in west Africa, which among other things has the nation's first ever NICU(!). The Center opened recently and I'm happy to report that the first baby was delivered there today, a girl.
Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in February, 1818. He later chose to celebrate his birthday on February 14th.
I have not met you before but it’s an instant follow for me
I wanna go to bug camp...

the Washington Post layoffs are awful in every regard. I am under no pretense that Trump-glazing collateral damage was intended as an intelligent biz decision. However, I want to address closing its sports desk.
If you want to do journalism that gets eyeballs, sports is the LAST desk to close.
An 11-year-old girl from Columbia Heights remains in ICE detention at the Dilley, Texas facility — where measles cases have been reported — sparking concern among family, community members and advocates.
happy birthday--may your Jesus Year be a lot less, um, dramatic than his was
Take away from me the noise of your songs;
I will not listen to the melody of your harps.
But let justice roll down like water
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.
