Boiling water poured frequently down the sink drains in the kitchen has helped at our house.
Oh, yes, this resonates!
Fortunately, the baguettes turned out fine. Not perfect, but perfectly usable
Now I am waiting to see if I have 4 edible baguettes for today and dough for 4 to put in the freezer, or if I have wasted a quadruple batch of ingredients.
Saturday suspense! Tried making a double batch of GF baguettes. Pretty sure I accidentally doubled something, so I added a double batch of everything else to match ...
Capt Analog also celebrated the last day of school by picking up photo prints of the first roll of film he shot on an old-school camera.
More things unpacked from school backpack: dremel, another length of pipe, $4.35 in coins, kleenex, hair elastics, soldering paste, coil of wire, some whittled wood, Magic the Gathering deck, drill bits, base of a clock, cute political buttons.
I would like to advocate for more places in the excellent program he is now taking, the Essential Skills Achievement Pathway. Hands-on and experiential learning, documenting essential skills. Grateful he got a place through am application and interview. More spaces for more learners, please.
Sam will get 7 credits in Grade 10. Last fall, when his jr high finally sent his paperwork along, they sent a graduation certificate for a year he did not attend, a program from the graduation ceremony he did not attend, and a blank report card. Blank. That was ... bleak.

Inexcusable. So sorry you had to face this.

It is just a pink geranium in a south-facing window. Such a simple joy, and not hard to keep alive.
I hope things improve for you, and for all of us 🙏
Bloom of a bright pink geranium in a window with snow and a railing visible outside
So grateful for anything that blooms in February
