I have been to datacenters in Santa Clara, Oakland, Chicago, and other places. From the outside you can't hear them at all because regulations don't allow it, so they engineer around it.

A 24 hour graph labeled "Back Yard > Air Gradient > Temperature". The graph shows temperatures between 45 and 55 up until a little before 8am, at which point it plummets down to 27 degrees so rapidly the line looks almost straight down until it tapers off.
When I woke up this morning it was 45 degrees outside. A few hours later and it's 27 degrees with over an inch of snow
