A diy scene can get together and turn into nazis, or (more likely) boiler plate misogynists, but sometimes a scene can get together and learn how to keep nazis and misogynists out. The point is creating an offline space where you can be kind of libidinal, while also having to deal with other people.

All scenes can produce something nasty. But the DIY venue requires some amount of working with other people, creativity, and is an outlet for all sorts of flows that are otherwise being channeled into algorithms that are constantly churning out reactionary slop.

Of course, and I don't think anyone is suggesting otherwise.

Worried about alienated, angry young men groping for an identity and going fash? Have you considered putting $250 million into a nationwide network of all-ages punk clubs?Paying leftist hardcore bands to tour??

My (brilliant, beautiful) wife sent me this because she recognized in the premise some of the stuff I spend a lot of time thinking about - how reactionaries weaponize desire in a landscape bereft of culture - and her solution basically resolves with this hoovybaby post.

the eminem sized hole in white america YouTube video by Dasia Sade

"Contrary to popular belief, police also kill and deploy brutality on white people, but you would not know that. And it's not because the media doesn't care about white people... The lack of coverage happens because white America is excommunicating those people."

Biden's point man on Lebanon and one of his overall most important advisor for MENA said yesterday morning that he agreed with Trump's strikes on Iran last year lol.

Democrats really need to reassess how people like this were (and still are) allowed to be at the top of their foreign policy echelon.

When Spinoza said "we don't know what a body can do" he was presaging encountering Swan Boy on the dance floor.

I don't think we have the money to have this guy mix it so I'm extremely afraid of fucking this all up when I hop into the box, but I'm also excited to mix some stuff that wasn't recorded in an untreated room onto budget equipment.

I've gone my whole life assuming I would never be able to afford to do record in a real studio, but it turns out that being really friendly to everyone actually pays off sometimes (like super discounts on studio time)

I am on my way to record an album in a real god damn, nice as hell studio. Holy shit.

I do most of my work on the streets, so I agree with Andy that plain English is more effective rhetoric.

On @nogodspod.bsky.social, I make the case that the distrust of government running through "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" is conveyed in a very particular, extremely 2007, voice.

Plant check. Some tomatoes have made an appearance. I'm honestly amazed at the germination rate on those old ass Roma seeds. Also have a single sprout of sculpit (aka maidenstears, aka bladder campion).

Fenugreek is a good herb to grow if you like nice smells and instant gratification. I just planted these last night.

I really liked Relentless Mutation and Bleed the Future in a "this is so fucking ridiculous" sense but I do not care for anything I've heard off their new record or how they're promoting it.

A post on the TrueAnon subreddit titled "The US navy has entered the 'please believe our sailors are being fed' phase of the American century of humiliation" The post itself is just a screenshot of a tweet from the US Navy that says "Fresh meals. Full service. Mission ready. Sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Tripoli continue to receive regularly prepared meals--no interruptions, no shortages" followed by four nebulous photos of supposed troop-feeding action.

A closeup of one of the photos that seems especially egregious in its veracity. One of the kitchen workers is blindly passing two loaded trays of food across the chow line with a giant metal partition right in front of his face. Things that make u go HMMMM

It is pretty funny that Chuck Schumer voted against 85% of his own caucus on what should have been an actually very easy vote to block $300 million worth of armored bulldozers which are exclusively used to commit literal war crimes from being sent to Israel, but Chris Coons voting no is way worse
