Interesting to hear that insight, but I know renewable generators sell into forward markets at derated capacity. Near delivery if they are forecast not supply what they contracted to, they have to buy gas power in the nearer-time auctions.
So there is always an element of merit order.

Can you not just leave the tank sitting unused if you wanted?
It's £75 in April 2024 prices – I know inflation is high but it's not that bad!
Who said anything about a decision?
I think everything that was in transit has arrived now; I think the longest time quoted was 40 days for VLCCs going around the Cape to Europe. Little sign of changes in oil price has a result though 🤔
I have an AEG model, I think it was about £200. There's a slight learning curve but you soon learn which buttons to tap and what the result is in the pan!
Yet overall global consumption is only falling 2.3 mbpd?
"Inventory" appears to be bridging the gap, but it doesn't quite all add up.
5/5
Rest of world production has changed much; if anything it has fallen slightly. Ukraine has been mounting long-range drone attacks on Russian export facilities, preventing Russia from capitalising on the opportunity presented.

So we have 20-4-6 = 10 mbpd reduction in the global supply of oil, against consumption of 105 mbpd pre-attack. Indeed the IEA says supply has fallen 10 mbpd.
3/
–The pipelines across the Arabian peninsula were already in use; maxing them out provided an alterative route for 4 mbpd of that 20 mpbd
–Strategic Petroleum Reserve and other reserve releases flow at about 6 mbpd
2/
It's quite hard to make all the oil flow numbers add up.
–Iran blocking the Straits of Hormuz locked in 18 million barrels per day (mbpd) (as 2 mbpd of Iranian oil was still passing)
–US are now blockading the Iranian 2 mbpd too
–IEA says year-on-year April oil consumption is down 2.3 mbpd

Indeed. Rather more significant than "concerns".
This doesn't reflect post-tax and benefits income, however, which is what people actually get into their back accounts.
"Concerns"? You mean "recommendation to deny"?
@acjsissons.bsky.social they are listening!
NEW | Clean power met ALL the growth in global electricity demand in 2025
Solar generation alone met THREE QUARTERS of the demand rise and grew by 30%.
Fossil generation stagnated (-0.2%).
🧵 A thread on changes in the global power system in 2025...
Nobody is saying otherwise. What is unacceptable is overruling UKSV, and, additionally, not telling anyone until the it was found out by other means.
Looking good! Has the inverter been configured not to export when the BESS fills up, or is it a case of the DNO not yet having provided an export MPAN so you can't sign up for an export tariff?
Do you know if the installer has made a G98 notification (<16A on one phase) or a G99 application (>16A)?
Btw the other thing you'll need is an induction hob. I had mine removed at the same time as the heat pump was put in; heat pump guy (qualified gas engineer) took it out and the electrician put it in.
The induction hob is much more controllable than a gas hob and so easy to clean 🙂.
Sure he was under pressure and new in the job, but he also said the denial of DV was not connected to Epstein so it must have been a current and direct risk.
Yet he overruled UKSV, granted DV personally, and chose never to tell anyone.
Of course he could not stay in role.
Fwiw my heat pump was £3,800 after BUS grant. It doesn't save me money (because my house is well insulated) but not having a gas supply to the house anymore feels soooo good
I wouldn't necessarily be concerned about insulation; as long as you have double glazing and 200 mm of loft insulation, you're good to go with decarbonising with a heat pump as @richarderskine.bsky.social says
Olly Robbins says "UKSV's verbal briefing to me was that they were likely to deny Mandelson DV clearance" and that he overruled them.
Pretty obvious why he was fired 🤷.
He also says he dismissed UKSV's judgment that DV clearance be denied.
£6,750 for 5-6 kWp *and* a 10 kWh battery?!
"March's surge in electric car sales is one of Europe's biggest recent gains in energy security, in a month when oil dependence has become a real vulnerability"
If you're in the market for a new car you may as well join the club
"Sales of fully electric cars in Europe's main auto markets jumped by almost a third in the first quarter of 2026, as drivers looked for alternatives to combustion engines"
Only change required is dropping the "2.5%" part and applying what would then be a "double lock" to all benefits (and the LHA allowance)
Depends on whether or not they want any votes at the next election. The Lib Dems taught everyone that lesson.
