You can rip those melds out after they got better hand-me-downs (surely they love getting more of your old clothes 😂)

If it's gatherer retainers, give them enough Gathering stats (listed right on the venture itself) and optimize Perception (which boosts the rewards - there's prolly a threshold spreadsheet somewhere).

Decide with the melds based on that.
