Every little hurts: Even small amounts of ‘sludge’ undermine the adoption of environmentally friendly business practices Policymakers often introduce programs to encourage businesses to adopt environmentally friendly practices. But even minor administrative hurdles - known as "sludge" - can significantly reduce take-up of sustainable practices. Manuel Grieder, Deborah Kistler and Jan Schmitz draw on a field experiment with Swiss firms and offer ways forward.

Gap Analysis on Behavioural Research Related to Climate Policy and Interventions This report summarises how behavioural science is being applied both internationally and in Ireland to help achieve climate action targets.

New policy report published by the Irish EPA on #BehaviouralScience and #nudging applied to #EnvironmentalPolicy.

Maybe a good resource to share with people who ask you about an intro to behavioural science and policy.

One of my favourite graphs from our Day Reconstruction Method papers: 2 studies show people have a higher sense of meaning, value, and purpose when they engage in some (but not all) pro-environmental behaviours. Link to study here www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

How much would Musk need to offer so @bsky.app would be willing to sell the app?

Always thought a survey with academics around the world about the sludge and admin burden at their institution would be great. Eg the level of sludge should inform which job to take (if you have a choice)

So happy to be back in Ireland for this! 20 #behaviouralscience presentations including a Keynote by Faisal Naru. Can't think of a better day spent in the office.

I'm very happy about this because it started with a summer research project with MSc Environmental Policy student Federica Nova. We also wrote a blog post on "Nudges and Other Behavioural Public Policy Instruments to Encourage Environmentally Friendly Behaviour"

New paper on the ethics of meat-reduction nudges

While many studies are being published on ways to nudge people to reduce their meat consumption, the question of whether such nudges are ethically legitimate is rarely discussed in the literature.

Thanks for a fantastic talk @erikangner.bsky.social! There will be a video of the talk on the Irish behavioural science and policy network page www.irishbspn.org and I'd strongly recommend watching it (and then getting a copy of the book).

Never understood the focus on hypothetical bias instead of other "anomalies" in SP research with arguably much stronger influence on Stated Pref. Seems the wrong bias to work on, a choice maybe driven by hypocrisy? "Incentives solve everything" is just not true
