Apple Books is still the best EPUB reader, but it’s store stopped to expand after China store’s sudden-death.

I like to design <table> in EPUB for a11y. But sometimes asked to replace well-designed <table> by image. Because Rakuten Kobo do not support <table> in vertical writing well.

I should rethink what should I do in the future.

I’m lagged to know Safari supported CSS ‘text-align-last: justify’ two years ago.

That can fulfill the requirement for aligning table head in Japanese and Chinese; usually in copyright page.

However, we usually use image for compatibility between reading systems.

Happy to get progress in W3C TPAC Kobe. “Emphasis dots” will broaden line-height in both Traditional /Simplified Chinese, but not happened to Japanese. It is going to be fixed in the future.

I use them to design highlight text on ebook. It used to present as above(Google Chrome), but a thin line in recent version.

Is it a bug on webkit?

Google chrome may follow Safari’s step to limit local font usage for privacy concern.

Please consider to support generic family like Kai, Fangsong in incoming level4 for Chinese Typography on web and ebooks.

‘text-autospace: normal’ is needed by CJK typography for such long time.

`margin-block: 1lh;` is such a better default for paragraphs of text than `margin-block: 1em;`

10 years ago, I made a crowd sourcing campaign to attend W3C workshop for Bopomofo requirement. I’ve made a sample textbook page for funding.
