The percent of homicides in DC attributed to domestic violence is the highest its been in the last 12 years.

Alarming data presented by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) especially in light of recent events in the news. CJCC started a DV working group to dig into these cases further.

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, DC’s inpatient psychiatric facility:
- has no electronic inventory system
- has a handful of security each shift with a hospital full of forensic patients
- has psychologist vacancies out the wazoo

But the Mayor sent us a proposed budget cutting $14m from the hospital?!

DC Emancipation Day commemorates President Lincoln signing the District of Columbia Compensated Emancipation Act of 1862, which ended slavery in Washington, D.C.

More than 3,000 slaves were freed. The history complicated by the fact that government paid the enslavers.

My prayers are with the Fairfax family, especially their children. Awful, awful news this morning.

Again: for any big liberal donor who wants to funnel millions into fixing this country's politics, the ROI on buying any struggling paper and simply tasking it with doing real reporting on local news is vastly higher than the same $$ given to some group that does mass ad buys every election year.

Geno was beefing before the game was even over. Bro, you got out coached. It happens eventually, especially when UCONN’s strength of schedule is what it is. #FinalFour

Dealing with rodents requires a multi-pronged approach. This may sound silly, but it’s a good alternative to rodenticides which can harm pets.

Broadcasting war crime plans…..🤨

What was the point of that address? Absolutely no new information. And still no case has been made to justify this war.

*whispers* And why didn’t they light the room appropriately?

If I were Bondi, at this point, I’d resign. Cause you’re not gonna keep trashing me in the press and smiling to my face. This is exhausting.

This reminds me how in 2020 the federal government gave more money to save a *single* airline than it did to the entire childcare sector.

šŸ—£ļøChildcare is a workforce issue; it’s critical to the economy.

Class Action Reads! Nothing Less Than Equality Join the DC History Center for a highly anticipated lecture from historian Tikia K. Hamilton about her new book Nothing Less Than Equality.

Tikia spent hours upon hours reading the DC Board of Education records, which are archived at the Charles Sumner Museum downtown.

The road to Brown in DC was complex and I cannot wait to dig in! Check out her lecture on Tuesday night if you’re free.
