I voted for you and am glad I did so. Ah, but I have a peaceful protest of my own. My pedant alarm, soz. 'Myself' is a reflexive pronoun ('Who did it?'; 'I myself did it'). Here you need 'I.' Well, language is always in flux, but pedants gotta pedant. Anyhow; you're a fab MP & am glad you’re mine.

Ooh yes. I liked the whole of the show but some of Nus's dialog... wasn't it 'payback's a bitch' in E01? Oof.

He's a fab wine maker, isn't he? I wonder if you are familiar with Tomas Postigo. I always get a little frisson of excitement to see his name on a winelist, vintner's shelf etc.

I paid €29.97 for it, in August 2022 - so says my purchase history on Decántalo, the (rather good) vintner I use most often for buying wine in Spain.

Baudry is fine indeed, I have some of his wines. But I'm not familiar with Marula. I shall look out for him. Ta.

Ooohh, not for the first time you call out a wine I have in my own little collection. This is the 17, though (yours was the 14) and maybe needs a little longer. But, yes! Cab Franc, what lovely wines it can make.

Lovely. Takes me back to my youth when my parents would also spell out w-a-l-k to avoid explosion of gleeful canine frenzy. Your dog is smarter than those dogs were.

You’re a big Larkin fan, James; he’s a fine poet. But Auden’s the man for me and these lines, I often think, contain great explanatory power:

I and the public know
What all schoolchildren learn,
Those to whom evil is done
Do evil in return.

..from his wonderful poem, September 1st, 1939.

An interesting poem, indeed. Most people read it as a paean to love. But - as one would expect from Larkin - it is rather bitter and cynical. Look at how those almosts govern the last line - they surely suggest it is *not true*

WH Auden formed ‘intense friendship’ with sex worker who burgled him, unseen letters reveal Exclusive: The newly released correspondence reveals how a strong bond developed between the Funeral Blues poet and the sex worker who broke into his home

Super-interesting article about Wystie. But Funeral Blues in sub-head? Oof. Why not Limestone? A straight reading of Funeral Blues is that it’s mawkish. Its real cleverness lies in that it’s a satire. Or am I being a snob?

It’s the same kind of thinking a racist has – that external appearance determines identity. Offensive.

Yes, a pleasing oddness to the night time pic. Though at first glance I thought it was a representation of Sweep (Sooty and Sweep).
