Tell Apple to Keep the Towson, MD., Apple Store Open Apple just announced it will permanently close its Towson, MD., store in June. For many Baltimore County residents, this isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s the loss of the only Apple store in the metro area reachable by public transit. When this store closes, working-class residents, disproportionately Black and brown Baltimoreans, will have nowhere to go for in-person tech support, repairs, and services. Small business owners who depend on Apple's Business team will be left without a local resource. There's something else you should know: this is the first Apple store in the country to unionize. The nearly 90 workers at this location are members of the IAM Union (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers). Workers at the two non-union Apple stores closing the same month were guaranteed job transfers. Towson workers were told to apply through the same portal as outside job applicants. Towson deserves better than abandonment. We’re calling on Apple to identify a new Towson location and keep its commitment to this community rather than walking away when workers had the courage to organize. Tell Maryland elected officials to tell Apple CEO Tim Cook not to close the Towson store. Don’t leave Baltimore County behind.
