"This was an entirely unforeseeable usage of the tombstone functionality of Oregon Trail. If anything, our zeal for the social sharing of sensitive medical information was way ahead of its time."

Really nice to see more screencaps corrected for irregular pixel shape!
A color portrait of drummer, singer, Genesis frontman, and Top 40 solo artist Phil Collins, circa 1990. Special Operative Yìchén sees the image and can’t help himself. He’s suddenly air drumming the 10-note tom-tom fill from “In the Air Tonight.” His director at the Eleventh Bureau shoots Yìchén a stern look from beyond the cubicle.

Is it a legitimate bug or did the creator just think a blackjack game where the dealer never loses was hilarious? This is crucial worldbuilding!
"See mom, nobody wears corduroys anymore!" "Well you still like McDonald's and that's even worse!"
Good game! I should replay it for a better outcome
A snap of a PSM page with an illustration of Harry and Cybil , back to back and handguns held to the ready, as fog and hellish beasts menace them.
Flicking through a PSM from 1999 and came across this nifty Silent Hill artwork. The artist's name rang a bell, and yep, it's that Colleen Doran; prolific comic artist and writer.
Apparently it still existed?
They're really sticking it to this Paul Ehrlich guy. Did he work here or something?
I remember seeing the pilot for this, thinking it was going to be the coolest show ever, and then somehow never hearing about it again until the 21st century
STRONG THIEF: Man, this Hieronymus Bosch is heavy! SAVVY THIEF: That's because he deals with man's inclination towards sin, in defiance of God's will. STRONG THIEF: I didn't mean it like that. SAVVY THIEF: Oh. Volcano (1997), Thief (1981)
Volcano (1997)
A caricature of 80s and 90s pop star Madonna. Whatever else happened later, whatever else Madonna became—and she became many things—Jack remembers her best from Danceteria in 1982. She’d crash the club and convince DJs to play her demos. God she was bad, he remembers, but so good at being bad.

Simpsons screencap. A father, his face overlaid with the box of Silent Service II slaps his son, face overlaid with the box of Codename ICEMAN, and says "Now that's how you make a submarine Sim!"
*slap*
a nice thing about when the internet was a bunch of little sites and servers was that it was a lot harder for governments to pressure "the chat provider everyone uses" to implement age verification.
you wanna pressure 300 separate IRC servers? good luck with that. but one company? easy
THE HARD TIMES (satire blog): "Yikes! Spin Doctors Reveal Prince Andrew Is one of the Two Princes They're Singing About"
lmao
SHOCKING FEDERAL COURT MOMENT: DOJ attorney Julie Le, "The system sucks, this job sucks" to Judge Jerry Blackwell who pressed her on why so many court orders are being ignored by ICE/Trump admin. She asked to be held in contempt just so she could get 24 hours of sleep. @FOX9
This is unreal. An AUSA talking like that in open court is about as close as you can come to a total breakdown. Never heard of anything like it.
This one was a genuine rabbit hole, very fun to research and write. I did not expect "underwater basket weaving" to connect to basically every social issue of the mid 20th century
Ah yes, "Dueling Banjos" from that greatest of cinematic romances, _Deliverance_

Need a time machine so this guy can be Michael in a live-action Maniac Mansion film
Good times for French sci-fi animated movie.
An image of Superman dumping a presumably gargantuan barrel of football-sized raisins onto a seemingly endless raisin horde, located in an empty, peach-colored void
Superman Raisins (1982-1986): Snack-sized boxes of raisins, bearing the image and likeness of the Man of Steel, who could be seen on every box dumping a presumably gargantuan barrel of football-sized raisins onto a seemingly endless raisin horde, located in an empty, peach-colored void
BREAKING: The monkey bit someone.
The Dilbert cartoon was pretty good though, maybe because Adams only worked on it part-time.
This was a really interesting read and not just because I, too, used to obessively re-read Dilbert and Dave Barry hoping to crack the secret code of comedy.
Tweet exchange in which a photo of Anne Hathaway is posted by @TheRoyalSerf, to which user @VvSchweetz24 replies "@grok...do your thing. @Grok replies: Anne Hathaway isn't Jewish; she was raised Catholic but left the church. She married Adam Shulman (who is Jewish) in 2012 and celebrates Jewish holidays with their kids. SHe's played Jewish roles, like in "Armageddon Time."
pretty sure he meant the other thing, grok, but very cool that those are your two things
