The future of making sure you don’t leave this guy alone with your drink

Today, a lot of people will be talking about the manifesto that Palantir released. In addition to pouring over what those words mean, I invite you to ground the conversation in what Palantir has already done.
Its work with Israel and ICE show us exactly what it stands for.
I’m sure this is unrelated to the fact that last month data workers revealed they were asked by Meta to review video from Meta Ray Bans of user’s intimate moments like having sex or using the bathroom.
What a thrill to speak with 🔥@equalityalec.bsky.social🔥 for the pod this week—a timely, necessary conversation about how media misinforms us about crime, policing, and surveillance…and what we can actually do about it! Listen in. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i... @mhgreen3000.bsky.social
For the pod, Nora and I sit down with @equalityalec.bsky.social to ask what if our ideas about crime and safety are being shaped, not reflected? He unpacks how media and political power construct fear, expand surveillance, and define which truths we see. and which we don’t.
40 senators isn’t 51 or 60 but, to riff on something the Genoicidaire in Chief once said, this is a BIG FUCKING DEAL. Last year it was only 13 of 535 members of both houses…now most Democratic Party Senators are voting against weapons to Israel!
How is “viewpoint diversity” not just affirmative action for people with bad ideas
That’s right!!! And thanks to everyone in Seattle who showed up for a sneak peek of what’s next 💕
US President Donald Trump says the US Navy would immediately start blockading the Strait of Hormuz and would also interdict every vessel in international waters that had paid a toll to Iran. https://aje.news/x545rk
We have entered the “you can’t kill me if I commit suicide” phase of American Decline
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has signed a decree establishing Universal Healthcare for all Mexican citizens.
The United States could’ve had this, but people chose economic collapse, cruelty and death instead. I’ll never regret voting for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris.
reads: Introduction In March 2026, an Anthropic employee released the source code of Claude Code, a wrapper around their large language model that is widely used to generate code in programming tasks. Its thousands of lines of Typescript code contained many hopeful prompts and in cantations to shape Claude’s behaviour. Here are some examples: “Report outcomes faithfully”; “Never characterize incomplete or broken work as done”; “Be careful not to introduce security vulnerabilities ” (prompts.ts in Anthropic 2026) . There is more than a passing resemblance here to the Azande witch -doctor apprentice who, while stirring the medicine, utters: “You medicine which I am cooking, mind you always speak the truth to me. Do not let anyone injure me with his witchcraft, but le t me recognize all witches. … Let me be expert at the witch -doctor’s craft so that people will give me many spears on account of my magic.” (Evans-Pritchard 1937: 93). In the case of Claude, the incantation s appeared insufficient: analysis of the codebase, which according to a company executive was “pretty much 100% written by Claude Code ”, revealed severe security vulnerabilities (Townsend 2026).
what an introductory paragraph!!
This week @mhgreen3000.bsky.social and I got to speak with rockstar legislator Brianna Thomas about finally getting the wealthy to pay their share: it’s a truly inspiring story of how WA passed the millionaires’ tax, and what it says about our political moment. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i...
The only president stupid enough to do it.
Rev. My mentor, a Jesuit priest, would say the following "To know the good and the do otherwise is what we call a sin."
Think about if this is the good you should be doing right now.
Glad to know the US Congress is out on a vacation and is resting from the strong effort they demonstrated.
Right to repair manuals alongside poetry booklets and personal zines about identity. That combination is the whole picture. Repair as both practical skill and philosophical stance. Fixing things and finding meaning in the same space.
i think if you tweet "a whole civilization will die tonight" you shouldn't go to the hague, the hague should get to come to you
The sociopathic bullshitter built a sociopathic bullshit machine. Color me shocked.
I wish science could explain what’s happening.

Eleanor Roosevelt’s gun permit (which she got it around the time the klan put a $25k bounty on her head). What a vibe
What can we actually learn from the recent social media harms trials in the US? As researchers, parents, concerned users? Super honored to have Laura Marquez-Garrett (lead plaintiff’s attorney in the LA trial) join us to walk through these questions and more! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i...

The Effects of California's $20 Fast Food Minimum Wage on Prices Jeffrey Clemens, Olivia Edwards, Jonathan Meer & Joshua D. Nguyen WORKING PAPER 34990 DOI 10.3386/w34990 ISSUE DATE March 2026 We analyze the effect of California's $20 fast food minimum wage (Assembly Bill 1228), enacted in September 2023 and implemented in April 2024, on consumer prices using the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Indices for food away from home across 21 metropolitan statistical areas. Food away from home prices in California's four in-sample MSAs increased by 3.3 to 3.6 percent relative to 17 control MSAs through December 2024. Our estimates are stable across a number of specifications. Placebo tests on price indices for goods and services that were not affected by the policy, including food at home, show no differential increases in California's MSAs. The price increases we estimate likely arise in part from spillovers to the full-service sector, as well as changes in the production functions and product quality choices of limited service restaurants.
CA’s $20 fast food minimum wage raised fast food prices by only 3%. The reason minimum wage increases keep not reducing employment and barely increasing prices is monopsony power.

AWS has thoroughly integrated itself into ASPPH as an org, and it shows.
I was at the conference last week and the AI hype was completely ridiculous. It’s worth noting that one of their biggest sponsors is Amazon web services…the conflicts of interest are everywhere, and don’t ever seem to be disclosed. No wonder public health has a trust problem.
This story is insane. Married an American, arrested at her greencard interview, flown out of state, nearly killed multiple times when her diabetes was ignored and then mistreated. When she finally got out? Found out her credit card had been used illegally. www.daylightsandiego.org/san-diego-wo...
19 years old Royer Perez-Jimenez is one of the youngest people to die in an ICE camp.
His arrest was unnecessarily violent and forceful.
He’s shoved to the ground while officers kneel on his back as he struggles to communicate.
A few weeks later, he was dead.
Abolish ICE
this is going to be more embarrassing than any of us can possibly imagine and I cannot wait
