Data-driven, honest, what worked and what didn't.

Standard Time should be the norm.
I didn't expect to have to use Windows Subsystem for Linux as my main dev'ing location for a current project, but doing so has been a nice change.

The Software Engineer's Guidebook is finally available on the O'Reilly platform! So if you have an O'Reilly subscription, you can read it.
This was a very frequently requested platform: glad that we could make it happen with the O'Reilly team!
A pivotal period in Windows' history.
That is very revealing.
Apparently their client list includes the following...
"Other notable UK clients include Aviva, Boots, British Airways, Lloyds, BT, Diageo, National Grid, NEST, and Thames Water"
These companies should review their security ASAP.
100% this. When starting something new I will *frequently* work for a while, say “OK, now I have a better idea of what I’m doing,” revert, and start over. Of course there’s a “point of no return” where I’m far enough in I’m not going to do that, but this is an essential planning strategy.
Alright #dotnet - time to clear your calendars! @stephentoub.bsky.social's review of the huge swath of perf improvements in .NET 10 is LIVE!

Class of '92 are 4, 5 and 6. Amazing longevity.
I mix creatine in either Greek yoghurt, or a small glass of flavoured kefir. I can't drink it plain, yuck.
However, Momentous now offer flavoured creatine sachets, lemon I think. Worth checking out.
Really looking forward to reading it 👍 Might be too soon to ask, any plans for the next book(s) you would like to write?
Sorry, I have no binders. I worked at various companies that subscribed to the MSDN discs, but I didn't keep a binder as a souvenir. I wish I had though. 😂
Aww wow. Brings back the memories of when we would receive the latest MSDN delivery of discs to put in those huge binders.
I will make my way to the naughty step and think about what I've done. #JumpingToConclusions
😮 Working as a software engineer without a keyboard and mouse? Er no thanks Microsoft.
If it happens, I'd be more than happy to shop around. #Linux #Mac

I just wanted to say, I’m probably more proud of this Ted talk than just about anything I’ve ever done so I’m gonna be absolutely useless for the next couple of weeks as I promote the shit out of this because I want you to watch it because it matters in the moment we are in youtu.be/dVG8W-0p6vg
I tried Aspire for the first time on Friday. I believe it will make a huge impact on our local dev setup ie ASP.NET website hitting containers with specmatic mocked endpoints. The dashboard makes it so much easier to see what's going on, plus the resource graph is #chefskiss
I can only try to imagine how morale amongst remaing Microsoft employees could be right now. This is brutal.
Getting my @neovim.io groove on.

Another great episode @scott.hanselman.com @markrussinovich.bsky.social
Regards sitting for long periods, I took advice I read about "exercise snacks" - every 45 mins or so, I'll get up and do body squats or take the stairs, stretches, that type of thing.

Check it out, folks! Finally ReSharper OoP has been released in our EAP (Early Access Program)! You can be some of the very first developers to try it out. Let us know what you think!
@markrussinovich.bsky.social With its momentum building and Microsoft adopting it more, I wonder what Dave Cutler would make of Rust?
