You have much more lived experience than I do. Just seemed to me there are parallels between the people who preach that their religion is the only true religion and those who preach that the only true family/marriage is between a man and a woman.

Being gay is not taught, but it's also true that teachers risk firing for having books about families with two mommies or with gay penguin dads in their classrooms. Many families don't want kids exposed to anything "different" - which is coded language for deviant.
