The CDC has literally been gutted today.

There’s no need for “April Fools” when reality is a nightmare for every human on this planet.

Thousand of scientists fired.
Entire departments erased.

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.

This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.

Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.

And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

ripples.
when you create a difference in someone's life, you not only impact their life, you impact everyone influenced by them throughout their entire lifetime.
no act is ever too small.
one by one,
this is how to make an ocean rise.

Tragic news: The breeding male of Oregon's Metolius pack was recently found killed near Sisters, Oregon.

We've contributed to the $30.5K reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the killing of this federally protected wolf.

We expected 2,000 people out in GOP-held Greeley, Colorado.

11,000 people showed up.

Something special is happening, folks. Now is the time to organize in every dimension possible and get to work.

A friend drove two hours today for her breast cancer chemotherapy only to learn it was canceled due to NIH cuts. Clinical trial ended midstream. No treatment, no restart, no plan, no information. Her bro-in-law's chemo was also canceled.

I'm Not Running in 2026, But I Am Getting to Work We all have work to do in delivering a better kind of politics for America.

I care deeply about who Michigan will elect as Governor and send to the U.S. Senate next year, but I have decided against competing in either race.

I wrote more here about my decision and how I view the work required of us all in this moment:

In a shocking turn of events, many of the people who said they wanted "free speech" actually just wanted to be the ones in charge of which speech is free.

Projects interrupted For over 11 years, 18F has been proudly serving the American people to make government technology work better. We are non-partisan civil servants. 18F has worked on hundreds of projects, all designed ...

You can now read about projects that were interrupted when 18F was disbanded.

One of them was with the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP), which ensures military service members and Americans overseas are able to vote, and that their votes are counted.

We are experiencing an assault on science unparalleled by anything I’ve seen in my life. It’s not one issue or another anymore, the entire institution is under attack by the most powerful individuals in the country.

This Friday, where will you be?

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

An open letter from the abruptly shuttered 18F - called the "the gold standard" of civic tech by even Trump admin officials.

Spread it far and wide.

All these stories should be getting covered in the news. Remember how we all had to hear in story after story about folksy racist Trumpers from the heartland after Trump won the first time? How about profiling his actual victims this time, media?

National Science Foundation suspends salary payments, leaving researchers unable to pay their bills An NSF online payment system remained down after the federal funding freeze was lifted, leaving early-career scientists scrambling to pay bills

“on Thursday the [National Science Foundation]’s online payment system was still down, throwing lives into uncertainty. An NSF email seen by STAT suggested salaries had been suspended to “ensure only eligible activities” are funded.” www.statnews.com/2025/01/30/t...

Most of the people reading this have a sense of how bad things are right now.

So for encouragement, here's a thread with examples of folks fighting back.

We are suddenly in a moment where it feels like simple idealism - in the sense of caring about others and not just about oneself - has never been rarer and more necessary at the same time.

I have a theory that I want to try to prove. I believe that working together we can change the world pretty dramatically between now and the end of next year, one day and one community at a time. More soon, but that’s mainly what I will be posting about from now on.
