It mirrors the dangers of personal gambling putting self and family at risk. Our economy gambles not just with money but with the existence of our biosphere and the billions of people the economies funded into existence so it had buyers to support it. Always debt to futures. Cannibalistic dead end.
Yep.
Perspective taking is the key to so many things. It can be used as a superpower of incredible good, and/or terrible abuse.
When combined with love, kindness, and true honesty it’s a foolproof way to live — the only one we can know has positive outcomes.

lol
Not to mention the crime of killing hundreds of thousands of peace-wanting neighbors.
Can someone be charged for war crimes against their own people? Another leader starts a war his people don’t care about or want, then sends hundreds of thousands of his own people (and borrowed troops) to die.
Crimes are domestic too:

Without products of plastic and forever chemicals, driving, flying, walking, eating, having shelter, cooking, cleaning, fishing, farming, surfing, hiking, climbing, surviving, and profiteering, become far less accessible to humans. It’s what our planet needs now that it’s inundated with plastic.
It’s not right to release persistent and disruptive pollutants into our global ecosystems just so we can do whatever we want — shedding it off of us wherever we go like Pigpen.
Since our clothes and gear wear out we can know their plastic fibers are breaking down and shedding off into the shared ambient environment. Glad to see research proving it.

If humanity abandoned plastic and any other persistent or otherwise ecologically impactful alternative, it just might restore my faith in us.
What else do we need to see but this?

And this too. It’s this same tension that plagues us at every level of our governing conventions. The reasons given for logging are misled and based on falsehoods Trump admin declares emergency in California's federal forests search.app/uEnM2YgHcFED...
a local autonomy that attracts more and more residents; limiting infrastructure but building safety infrastructures
It exposes the sides; those sensitive to endless encroachment, those that don’t know (kept from) knowing about it, and those that willingly do it www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2024...
This is interesting because all of those numbered statements are true of urban planning, but stated this way shows some statements to be at odds with others. Some have to do with growth, and others include limiting sprawl.
I love this game
This is a sick and insane action. Yet we should remember that if we’re not logging our forests for timber, we’re buying the timber logged elsewhere. Local or remote, it’s still deforestation

Money always wins. The only way to stop it is to stop buying it (palm oil), and it’s in so many things. If not palm oil then soy, wheat, rice, coffee, almond, coconut, banana, and more. Industrial monocrops on used-to-be ecosystems.

I get asked often why animals can’t just be relocated when conflicts with human development occur. There are lots of reasons but this article covers a heart breaking one. Ecology is relationships, so for individual entities, it is always place-based
