Disco hate was absolutely a form of proto-trumpism. Where I grew up the objections to it were always laced with racial slurs against Black people.

It’s a good question, let’s clear the air:

1) Disco is awesome, like 25 all-time classic tracks in a 4 year span,

2) Disco was hated because it was queer, brown, and black,

3) Disco was hated because it paired women and men in a different power dynamic.

4) “Disco Sucks” was a “ MAGA” test run.

Yeah it was a big moment for anime mixing real life with animation. People accused it of taking TOO much influence from Roger Rabbit and accusations that they ripped the epstein model from disney’s saludos amigos live actions sections made the drama extra spicy.
