It’s helpful for me to remember that a lot of discourse boils down to I’m really struggling or afraid or angry and don’t politically know what to do to stop it but I won’t just say that.

In my work as a community educator on immigration issues (in rural northern CA), part of what we talk about with people are family preparedness plans. We use the packet (soon to be updated to recognize newly enacted CA laws) ILRC created. It’s heavy stuff in all the ways you can imagine.

This reality was (and will be) the topic of nearly every work conversation I’ve had for weeks. I work with the leaders in healthcare across our rural county. The system of care here has never met the needs of the community. Any cuts to Medicaid are going to make this so much worse. For EVERYONE.

I arrived back in Melbourne hours ago and had my phone handed back to me upon landing
