See you today at noon, LA!!
This is TOMORROW, LA!!! See you there!
Also don't forget that the quote at the bottom there was written by a teenaged Eliezer Yudkowsky. It's so weird that Kurzweil is quoting a hyper-online teenager like he's a great intellectual luminary.
I have to entertain myself somehow when reading books like this. And it's not like I'm going to post about them live on social media as I read them, that would be really unhealthy and weird
Page 29.
Yeah this not remotely surprising to me. That book is weirdly horny. Have you gotten to the part where he says that after the Singularity, you'll be able to make your sex partner look like someone else, without them knowing?
No, Dave, don't do it!
This is happening the day after tomorrow in LA! See you there!
sure but history suggests you would try but then she would rickroll you instead
right but would you rickroll the sun's 𝘮𝘰𝘮?
The results of tonight's special election in NJ-11, as displayed on the NYT. Analilia Mejia has been declared the winner of the race. She is ahead 61.3% to 38.3%, with 87% of the vote in, a margin of D+23. For comparison, the 2024 House margin in this district was D+15, and the presidential margin was D+8.
@joshuamzeitz.bsky.social I hate to say I told you so, but um...

yeah, you know, it's too bad that there aren't any well-known 19th century American novels about the perils of revenge
Honestly rickrolling @melvillean.bsky.social's mom might have been my finest moment
Same!
Thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Your review of it might be my favorite of all of them. I was recently asked to pair a chapter of the book with a short story for a university seminar where I was guest lecturing, and your review inspired me to pick "The Gernsback Continuum." Thank you for that.
Thank you Henry!
Wow, looks like this made it into the New Yorker itself! www.newyorker.com/books/book-c...
Thank you again, @doctorow.pluralistic.net! See you Sunday!
Babka just jumped onto my shoulder, from the ground, and stayed there for half an hour. I didn't know that she could do that, nor that she wanted to...but it sorta seems like she knew what song was playing when she did. #cats #catsky
And speaking of @doctorow.pluralistic.net, I'll be speaking on a panel with him, @jomc.bsky.social, and Lucas Cantor Santiago at the LA Times Festival of Books THIS SUNDAY! Come see us talk about AI, creativity, and the future of art. www.latimes.com/events/festi...
Thanks also to @r-emrys.bsky.social for this lovely review in @reactorsff.bsky.social last week!
Thank you to @doctorow.pluralistic.net for the MORE EVERYTHING FOREVER shoutout in today's @newyorker.com newsletter! "Popular science with teeth...a book that does a great job of showing how deluded, stupid, or in bad faith many of these billionaires’ claims are." link.newyorker.com/view/5be9ea0...
