It's to expose how harmful it can be to read these texts through an interpretational lens of the U.S. Constitution. Quite frankly, however you make sense of those passages is irrelevant. 2/3

Weapons of Worship: How the Songs of Evangelicalism Form the Soundtrack of Extremism In a sweeping investigation into the music of megachurches and political rallies, a journalist asks: How did praise and worship music beloved by millions of white evangelicals become the soundtrack of...

Now according to Worship Leader Research, “Only 3.4% of Worship Leaders rate their mental health as excellent compared to 29% of U.S. adults, and 9 in 10 get no help at all.”

Then through the chapter, I demonstrate how the entire service brings insecurity and anxiety for worship leaders. And the final line of the chapter is, “I sit there, a lump in my throat.” 2/3

And if the kids are paying attention while eating their PB&J, they just heard a command for their dad to chop their mom's hand off and show her no pity if she happens to grab an attacker's genitals to defend her family. 2/2

He’ll read from 2 Chron. 7, where King Solomon rebuilds the temple and then God says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2/2

Mark Driscoll's team has doubled down on the claim that the White House asked him to speak at their May 17th event to rededicate the nation to Jesus, despite the White House denying it. I spoke to both parties today. Here are the details!

According to Driscoll, it's "the biggest honor of his ministry career." But according to the event organizers, it's not real. I've reached out to Driscoll's team for comment. We'll see if they respond.

But now according to a representative of the event, "Mark Driscoll is not a speaker." It's unclear at this point why Driscoll's team would've sent that email. 2/2

The fact that many complementarians are responding to the 62 million visits to that website by claiming the problem is feminism and that we need even more submission of women to men is quite revealing. 1/2

Sixty two million visits to that website in one month explains why men like Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes are so popular among young men. It's also a sign for the church that it should completely deconstruct any theology that sacralizes male authority over women.

One of the funniest little known details about Sean Feucht to me is that he worked on starting a worship school called "Hillside." Given the prominence during the 2010s of Hillsong, Feucht's Hillside always reminds me of McDowell's in "Coming to America."

Why are there constantly groups of white Christian nationalists worshipping at the White House? I'm basically posting these Christian nationalist worship events in our government buildings on a daily basis at this point. Someone should write a book about it.
