yeah nah as the lead developer I had no idea that happened until after it happened. I wasn't involved. "these people" is a stretch for sure

I specifically verified with CraneMove.wav. the pitch is higher than it is ingame, so I tried patching the header to make it mono and double the sample count, and then it sounded the same. the duration ingame gets cut short though, which makes sense if it's using the stereo sample count

I can at least list their paths. these are all relative to Data/SoundFX in Data.rsdk:

for those wondering, the stereo SFX seem to have identical audio for left and right, so you're not losing anything in the downmix to mono.

found a bug(?) in Mania. there's 9 SFX that are stereo. ingame, they play at half speed because the playback system assumes mono input, even when given double samples from a stereo input. we discovered this on DC since we force downmix all SFX to mono, and that "fixed" the playback speed.
