I have been rather remiss of late on BlueSky, so I apologize.

That said, I wish all and everyone, those who agree and those who I don't, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays to all!!!

That was intended as humor if it didn't hit home.

Anyhoo, need to get back on this platform more and start cranking out photos again.

"the overlooked things" is a great phrase for the kind of photos I look for when there seems no obvious subject nor grand vista to avail oneself. It's amazing what you can find around you, whether macro, or just interesting, if you attune your eye.

Gonna be a bunch of rich people who own all the AI and the rest of us will be desperate to find whatever meager low wage employment we can find.

They have zero plan for this. Maybe it will be all find on the other end, but the transition is going to be painful.

That would definitely be handy.

Well, that's controversial! No wonder that one got away on you! ๐Ÿ˜œ

It's also beyond me why they hit Canada. Our jobs didn't run off to Canada.

Also, if you're trying to repatriate jobs, which I'm not against in principle, why wouldn't you start with small tariffs and slowly ramp up? I mean if you're going to do it, at least do it sanely.

Containers - cool!

That said, to each his own - all the OSes are fully workable if you take the time. As you imply, you should just choose what makes you happy.

When people are involved, any subject is controversial (these days at least).

For me it's Linux for any service or production application and MacOS for my desktop (MacOS mostly because it's a nice GUI with what basically looks like Linux at the CLI level).

Regardless, I'm definitely team Linux.

Good to know as I really want to read it and it sounds like it may be more difficult than I thought.

BTW "Der Untergang" ("Downfall") is an amazing movie on the last days of Hitler, also showing some of the same "banality", based on the memoirs of his secretary.

"Zone of Interest" which can be found for streaming is an excellent movie on just that subject, and pretty much shows the "banality" as exactly as you describe.

"Eichmann in Jerusalem" by Arendt also treads similar territory, but more centered on how the psychology.

Which I guess is to say, there is a certain feeling of being a "power trip" for many right now. They don't think it is just sensible, they are absolutely loving being able to shove it down "their enemy's" throats. A literal glee to it.
