I’m sure Trump has put the US in a very strong bargaining position by issuing two ultimatums with hard deadlines only to back down both times after Iran called his bluff.

That may help the stock market in the short term, but the strait of Hormuz will remain in the hands of the Iranians, who could close it at any time by a mere threat. That’s no way for a global economy to function.

It's illegal for DoJ to grab the info AND it's illegal for the states to give it. The software the feds want to use has already mishandled data.

The feds have no role in state election administration. This is an illegal surveillance.

Voting rights groups sue DOJ to block national voter surveil-and-purge database The complaint argues that DOJ’s actions are unconstitutional, illegal, and a key component of the Trump Administration’s attempts to subvert the 2026 midterms.

Under Trump, the Dept of Justice is demanding voter file information from all 50 states.

Why? To create a national voter list that Trump operatives can use to purge voters.

We're suing.

The strong take what they can, and they may not be held accountable by other nations, international bodies, or even the citizens; but alas, nothing is without consequences- even for the strong. Such actions weaken us as a nation, both at home and abroad.

Every presidential administration gets accused of corruption—sometimes with good reason, sometimes not. But the corruption of the Trump administration is of a magnitude that is not only without precedent in American history but so large and brazen as to be difficult to wrap one's head around.

Such a person would be, first and foremost, loyal to themselves. Those are the type of people who will backstab you in the blink of an eye when it suits them. No good can come from surrounding one’s self with people like that.

Wasn’t there an absolute outcry from the left (as well as center) when Trump came in and defunded NPR, PBS, and other perceived left leaning institutions? Can you imagine if he tried to suspend their license, replace their leadership, or anything along those lines? I’d be careful about that stuff.

Cardinal Cupich: "We're dehumanizing the victims of war by turning the suffering of people & killing of children & our own soldiers into entertainment. To splice together movie cuts w/ actual bombings & targeting of people for purposes of entertainment is sickening. This is not who we are."

Inspiring, but also a reality check for Americans opposed to Trump. If that’s what it takes to rid yourself of a would-be autocrat - that level of overwhelming opposition and national unity, we are a long way from that. Trump’s floor of ~30% seems unbreakable.

It also means Trump is now willing to put the U.S. navy directly within range of Iranian missiles and drones. So prepare for more casualties.

what about blockading the strait of hormuz?

It's already blockaded

It's been blockaded once, yes. What about second blockade?

Going to have to re-read Revelation for that one. It’s like a cross between the lamb/lion with the sword from his mouth and the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse.

In a couple of days we went from both Iran and the U.S. charging a toll to use Hormuz (at least in Trump’s mind), to now both countries blockading it.

Having recently learned that Hormuz is not in fact straight, Hormuz will be known from now on as the DOG LEG OF HORMUZ. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONAL J. TRUMP.
