The true measure of a human rights organization is how it treats its employees. In my experience, there are very few that value the people who do the real work.

Former chief coroner Lisa Lapointe recently criticized B.C.’s drug policies, saying the province’s approach to the ongoing #ToxicDrugCrisis is not evidence-based. @michellegamage.bsky.social reports. #bcpoli
After applauding the killing of Renee Good, the Toronto Sun’s former parliamentary bureau chief Bryan Passifiume has re-emerged from a month-long exile
Now appears to be filing stories every two hours throughout his workdays for the Sun:
At this point, I can’t understand why any international traveller would visit the US
Even if you think you’re not at risk, you could get caught in the crossfire of ICE gunning people down in residential streets or have masked gunmen storm your restaurant and haul kitchen staff away as you eat lunch
there’s nothing I’d take to my grave by any means necessary more than the idea that I’m responsible for what Alex Jones thinks about anything
Love wins if we keep loving.
As I said on the day it happened, so much for the Genius of the Carpathians
Happy Shooting Ceaucescu in the Face Day to everyone
Caryma Sa’d and Lee? Fuck. Maybe I should have waited a week.
It’s weird that @jessebrown.bsky.social’s new podcast is edited and researched by his wife, whom he doesn’t disclose is his wife, right?
Manhattan Institute The Current GOP overwhelmingly—69% to 24%— believes that American society is "too feminine" and that more masculine thinking is needed. Men are the most likely to hold this view (78% to 17%), but women also agree by a substantial margin (58% to 31%). Support is especially high among black Republicans (77% to 19%) and Hispanic Republicans (75% to 21%). The data also provide evidence for a broader generational and educational backlash among younger conservatives, particularly men. Although college graduates in the general population are less likely to support Trump, college-educated Republicans are more likely than their non-college counterparts to endorse the view that society has become too feminine. Younger Republican men, who have experienced these dynamics most directly, express the strongest support: 83% of Current GOP men under 50 agree, and nearly half (46%) strongly agree.

The Israeli army is launching a large-scale military operation in the northern West Bank, claiming it aims to prevent the regrouping of armed resistance groups in the Tubas district. But the real reason may be related to settlement expansion. mondoweiss.net/2025/11/the-...

a fascist meme, "globalist" is a dog whistle for classic 19th century style conflation of Jewish people and being "cosmopolitan"
Absolutely beyond parody that Dave Chappelle is headlining a comedy show for Saudi royalty after what, a decade of whining about cancel culture
We are antifascists. Our activism is centered on fighting against any organization, institution, or authoritarian that targets Women, POC, Muslims, Jews, Immigrants, and Queer people with marginalization and oppression. If you have a problem with that you can fuck right off with your ignorance. đź–•

You’d think that being advised by a German that this is fascism would carry some weight in terms of argument, but most people will either dismiss the point or ignore it completely. it’s so bleak right now
Forgive the Google translation if that’s erroneous in any way, but it’s a very important point being made here, and I wanted to amplify it quickly
“We shouldn't make fun of the fact that they want to ban Antifa, an organization that doesn't even exist. Quite the opposite, of course they know it. It's precisely about creating a vague enemy image and a seemingly legal framework to prosecute anything that stands in the way of new fascism.”
To be clear, this move brings us back to the very pointed targeting of LGBTQ2S+ graphic novels that got us here in the first place.
Books that were on the government's radar thanks to far-right advocacy groups like Action4Canada.
There is a large portion of people who only really started to care about the Alberta book ban stuff when it was Margaret Atwood being pulled from shelves.
I hope those same people are willing to stand up and defend queer and trans comics artists too, and call this what it is
drug prohibition is state religion
Cream tabby Maine Coon cat staring intensely at the camera
so, to understand this story there are a few things you need to know
- my cat, Gus, believes he is a trained support animal
- he is not (he has relatives who are, but he is not)
- he believes he is a seizure-detecting dog
- he is not a dog
- I do not get seizures
naming the brand and flavor of the potato chip bag is what sends this story over the top. a perfect piece of new york city politics journalism
There are always many apologists for Cdn mediocrity (and Toronto mediocrity, for that matter).
It was many years of training/beating down to get there.
All that, and a bag of chips
