Again the defence is exposed in high press, with no help from midfield. And again, the team is rescued by individuals late in the game. Inconsistency.

Disastrous effort. No discipline or structure. Serious lack of intelligence on the ball or off the ball.

The apologetic performance was insincere. It seems no player realises what is going on or none of them have the backbone to set standards for teammates to follow.

Not exactly pretty, with a rough, unorganised first half. Glimmers of quality but without a route to progress directly, taking control was useless.

Second half changed the dynamic, assisted by being behind in a knockout game. Excellent impact coming off the bench.

Good in spurts during the first half and a solid second half. Changes in squad needed to change the outlook on the game.

Some serious question marks remain, and aren't helped by performances, but overall effort was above expected and nearer where it should be. Progress.

Depressingly familiar across the formation. There are serious issues in confidence and experience, and will clear up over the next seasons.

However, the team weren't battling from a losing position this game, hopefully giving some reference for better future efforts.

Another uncomfortable watch. Difficult to see any upward trend at all. These players lack important traits, confidence and clear-headedness. Traits that should've been included in the price tags.

The absence of the traits also seem contagious. Wins don't come easy.

Struggling to progress options from start to finish with possession, and failing to impose the same pressure opposite.

Inconsistency seems to forever haunt the squad and stability seems as far away as ever.

Panic and Zirk and AMAD rescued an embarrassing result.

Exemplary performance from almost all players. Complete focus and dedication to the match. Exactly what is required to win tough games.

Great structure and stability throughout the formation, and no glaring errors to withstand.

Gained invaluable experience.

Tonight this team has proven they do not deserve the hate they receive. They have quality. They have passion. But they have continuously been let down by above, and problems are allowed to fester.

Well, hopefully this is a corner turned, and the club is on the up.

Drastic changes need to occur soon to give the new manager any chance at all.

The dressing room needs a sharp detox. No individual player should be blamed for the state of the team. Each one proved themselves before United and will turn up again after.

But they need to go. If not in January, when?

Dismal effort in the first half. Giving away possession constantly. No aggression in tackles or blocks, and no structure in the press.

Few changes for the rest of the game. Hard to imagine a worse way to lose. Not an unfamiliar sight anymore. Not a remedy in sight.

This is not sustainable. Frankly, the result is irrelevant. The talented, expensive players are not performing anywhere close to an appropriate standard.

This club needs emergency decisive action in all departments, with no stone unturned. Abismal effort to watch live.

Poor performances from all involved. No desire to win. You cannot rely on luck or passion to win games in this league, the quality and structure needs to be there at all times.

The club has a long way to go to be fighting with consistency. Weather the storm now.

Difficult game to approach, this team has our number. Better sides will continue to dominate until the strategy is more cohesive.

End of 2nd half displays the importance of momentum. Passion to win is evident but players need avenues to deliver through. Hard work.

Slow improvements in some areas and a lack thereof in others. Taking more risk on themselves is needed for some.

A relieving rescue effort to end the game meant escaping more scrutiny, but plenty of steps still to take on the road to redemption for this squad.

A well-drilled opponent prevented the backline from progressing forward and not enough imagination up top.

Started with a solid back line, but with no avenues to progress and a lost offence, too many corners were conceded.

A poor restart and subs meant a hard-watch 2nd half.

Mistakes still occurring from confusion in positioning, and clumsiness.

Excellent at forcing turnovers in the press and converting with good shots. Good scoreline to reinforce belief in the club.

Good all round performances from the majority of players. Large errors in defence, but plenty of evidence of improvement.

A first home win under the belt should set the team up well for the coming run of fixtures. Mentally also.

Glad to see squad rotation already.

Fantastic start to an unremarkable match in the end.

It would've been papering over the issues at the club to have won handily, though, and it was a better first game than the outgoing.

Reality is, it won't be smooth sailing from here. As much as we want it to be!
