I make two versions of seitan. A "loaf" for sandwich meat/musubis and then a "meat" knot for stirfry/burritos.

Stat: outdoor cats kill an estimate 2-4 billion birds a year. This is in addition to the estimated 6-20 billion mammals killed by cats every year.

Crazy stat: annually, US dogs and cats consume as much food as the entire nation of France.

Another crazy stat: the yearly impact of owning 3 pets(dog or cat) is the equivalent of using a private jet. Not using a jet once, but the average private jet emissions for a year. That's huge.

Conservatives are the real welfare queens.

Republicans ARE listening to their constituants. A lot of conservative voters are single issue voters. That's why republicans are so hard about abortion, freedom, etc. Conservatives think "I care about x but y is more important, I'll vote based on y."

About 40% of all food in the US is thrown away. It winds up in landfills where it becomes methane which is then gassed to the atmosphere. Some food waste is diverted to other processes but not much. It's about 325 lbs per person per year of wasted food.
