thats true, and i hear peter evolved over the years and i cant speak to that, but fwiw i enjoyed working for early lionhead peter. he was erratic and prone to exaggerating etc etc as widely reported but as tom hinted at, at least in that era i do think it was without malice.

what about brian! is he the king?
Introducing the Plinky12 Chords, a brand new synth from Making Sound Machines and @mmalex.bsky.social . I had so much fun getting to know this one, take a look!

more info at plinky12.com and over the coming weeks leading up to superbooth in berlin and release after that!
and now @bopbip4.bsky.social is gonna livestream some plinky12 jamming over at www.twitch.tv/earthmodular... I believe
oo... something happening in... 8 minutes?! www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBkh...
what a legend
i often think with fondness of 'massags of bloomsburby' (also note the misspelled bloomsburey above), sadly now gone. a special place on the 91 bus route. RIP
hats off to you for writing & sharing oss! i share your excitement about ai-assisted one-off tools. I guess i misread this '...you'd open source the work because that way the effort would pay itself back in clout somehow and, I don't know, nerd karma?" as dismissive of oss. sorry.
i understand he was trying to say 'my app for me isnt worth sharing' and i agree with that. but the intentional (?) reductive framing of opensource is unnecessary to make his point, and is just crass, or ignorant, or both
the really tone deaf thing in this to me is that he scoffs at open source as being just something to earn 'nerd points'. meanwhile all those apps he prompted into existence? sitting atop an absolute truckload of open source libraries. he erases the value of the things the ai is building/built on.
I love sharing numbers so here's a video of how much we spent to make Mythmatch.
I break it down by time, discipline, and funding source.

is this snark? or a genuine question? i cant tell any more :)
sorry bluesky having a moment I think.
it wasnt very exciting, just lots and lots of imgui widgets all over the screen :) nothing you havent seen 10000000 times before. but thankyou as always for such a lovely library.
argh bluesky not showing images? something broken? blah
(none of this ui existed 3 hours ago. and now it does. god bless @ocornut.bsky.social )
going on an absolute dear imgui debug tooling binge. brb.
goblins unite!
i really like these. 4 colors per sprite including black? perfect
that would be so fun! and a fire button available from step one and youre like 'nope nope that was a bad idea nope. ok now i need <new feature!>
oh shit sorry been crunching in the run up to superbooth and not been paying attention at all. sorry!
like, i'll write 1000 words about a tiny incremental change, but its actually useful for me because it forces me to organise my thoughts (basically rubber ducking before even hitting enter). if I can describe it clearly, then the code change is normally tiny - but they are 'fast typists' :)
yeah ive heard giving them tests to validate against is a stratospheric boost to their ability to write working code. i need to use them more around tests actually, thanks for the reminder :) so far I either use them for quick tooling/experiments, or as a 'fast typist' for a v specific job.
looks great. 3 is the magic number after all
(on desktop, id use imgui or something like this. but on an embedded system, options are more limited, and squinting at printf traces doesnt cut it, nor do most off the shelf graphic solutions do exactly what i want. eg irregular timing or multicore producers).
and thus, bug was found, fixed (by hand). *observability* is amazing when you can write throw away tools like this in 10m. always lived by the mantra of 'visualize everything until you truly understand' - often hard in interactive/realtime/game/synth things. now visualization is so much easier.
they still write awful code, but my god are the robots handy for 'I NEED NEW TOOL NOW MAKE IT SO'. this one was 'i need realtime graphing of random stuff, let me dump LOG_GRAPH(fourcc,value). make it threadsafe, send it over webusb, write entire webclient plz'. and it did, in 10m flat...
