AOC: "Extreme level of wealth inequality leads to social instability and drives authoritarianism, right-wing populism, and really dangerous domestic internal politics. That is a direct outcome of the failure of democracies over decades to deliver."

Quick question: if students have seen ‘’Hamnet’’, how would you guide students? Obvs, for me, it’s an irrelevance. But some stus might go astray with the ‘alleged’ connection? (Great film btw, Hamlet notwithstanding)

I think the fact this lovely site is algorithm-free means we have to work hard to connect with individuals we’d like to follow. And the groups (like UK Teaching) died a while ago. There are still great individuals posting on here - but none of us have managed to recreate the old EduTwi**er tribe

I feel like I say this every week but it was just another great and fascinating episode. @adamboxereducation.bsky.social and @amymayforrester.bsky.social - congratulations on a great term of podcasts!

(PS - can you get Liz English on this platform. Loads I would like to ask her!)

I endured the Melania film so you don’t have to – my only regret is not buying popcorn so one of my senses was entertained | Caitlin Cassidy ‘Everyone wants to know,’ Melania says at the beginning of the two-hour extravaganza – but do we? It’s Friday afternoon at Hoyts on Sydney’s northern beaches, and the atmosphere is horrific. I am here to see Amazon’s $75m “documentary” on Melania Trump, which has already been condemned as a flop ahead of its release. When I arrive, I panic for a second that I have the time wrong. There are no Melania posters anywhere and the screening is tucked into the back bottom corner of the large movie theatre, like the weird leftover table at a wedding. Continue reading...

Hi
I'm planning on coming.
The problem is that I was just asked to make a presentation, telephonically or by video
conference, to Citi's Audit Committee at 8 pm.
Would it be appropriate/possible to come by at 6:45 and stay an hour -- or would that be
disruptive.
I'm so sorry; this just came up.

This Epstein drop is HUGE and utterly disgusting. I don’t see how this man is allowed to remain in office. Where are the evangelical leaders, the soccer moms, the folks stocking up on eggs, the farmers, the small business owners.

Decide. Who are you?

It's clear Trump is a deranged nutcase. At which point, it is no longer about him but about everyone still surrounding and supporting him. It is those people who need to be in the dock at the eventual 'Nuremburg trial'.

This is what the EU’s trade bazooka was meant for Having for once been prescient in endowing itself with a policy instrument in line with the times, it would be irresponsible for the EU to give up just because the coercion at hand comes from the most powerful country in the world.

OPINION: After World War II, the U.S. contributed generously to the relaunch of the European economy. It also massively influenced new democratic institutions in the nascent European Community.

Maybe now it’s Europe’s turn to defend these values — and that means taking action.
