Back from my day job business trip with a few orders to fulfill! But as teased, here's a video showing off TurboWave and TurboTracker using several PCM samples (and a few wavetables)

Kit oven might be a better term. I went with the Whizoo Controlleo route. I picked that one since I use lead-free solder and it was personally recommended. Build guide has a few minor gaps but it was easy enough to do - it just took a while.
It works really well though!
DIY reflow oven is up and running which finally allowed me to test a Pimoroni Pico 2. This has PSRAM which can be used for sample store for the TurboWave. And...it works!

Already thinking about some post-1.0 features for WaveBoy. Among them is a built-in slew. Helps avoid external modules for small case builds. Also pondering a pure PWM mode and a few other things. But first 1.0! It's coming soon!

Been a little distracted with this for a few days but I finally got wave drawing working in TurboTracker! It's really fun!

I may make my own in a small form factor and possibly with MIDI Thru. Not meant to replace fancy MIDI-CV modules. Just meant to solve my need in a small space.
So probably just 1 V/Oct, Gate, and CV (e.g. modwheel).
The band ( @victimcache.com ) is gonna be at CGF this year w00t! And I might be using one (or more) WBs. One thing I like from MidiBox SID is "auto arp" where it only engages an arp if you play more than one note.
I haven't found a solution to this with existing modules, such that...
Also! While I am doing the TurboWave thing, worry not, I think about our next Eurorack module regularly. Thinking about things like BBD, mixer, WaveBoy: Advance or Micro, etc.
Also thinking about a tiny MIDI interface for a specific use case I personally have. More info below.

w00t looking great! Glad you're enjoying it!
Had a minor scare in regards to supply of the MCU and cost of SD cards we use in WaveBoy. Fortunately we were able to resolve both with only a tiny price increase. Wild to think of how many things are affected by the current bubble. For now we have a good supply of PCBs and parts.

Not a great song, but a short demo showing that the TurboWave and TurboTracker both now support samples in addition to wavetables and noise!

It didn't quite go to plan but not bad for a first attempt at a laser cut enclosure to house some 12U rack rails while I'm slowly updating my home-office studio.
Showing off some new features in TurboWave and TurboTracker!

Had to make v0.67 of WaveBoy firmware. I discovered different DMA behavior in the latest SAMD51 MCUs I'm using for the latest WBs which required some refactoring. Changes are mostly for me during initial setup so I probably will still make 1.00 the next public release.

Shameless plug, my own WaveBoy. But for not-mine, it has to be the Doepfer A-124 (the Wasp). That's what got me into Eurorack in the first place and it's still my favorite filter.
It's not very pretty but the 2nd revision TurboWave X1688 card design seems to work! I don't yet have my reflow oven so used a hot air station and the SMD parts were quite sketch. But it works! And with a 24MHz crystal (so UART runs at 1.5mbit)

We took a couple days off from Turbowaving and case making to travel into the winter storm to brave the weather and, after 5 attempts over a number of years, finally see the @colbertlateshow.bsky.social ! It was so worth it! We'll be back at servicing orders in a few days. Thanks for your patience!
Unpopulated PCB of the TW1688 v0.2TH
2nd revision of the TurboWave X1688 PCBs have arrived! Stencil and parts also arrived. Now I just need a toaster oven...

I didn't make a video of it this time, but I fixed the infinite pattern scroll for TurboTracker (and some other bugs). Scroll was ported from DreamTracker but the pattern format is quite different so it took some fiddling around.

Video and audio capture from my real #CommanderX16 with my #TurboWaveX1688 8-bit wavetable card using #TurboTracker. First almost respectable demosong using hard drawn waves, volume envelopes and noise.
Working on the Wave editor for TurboTracker. It's now MVP! Meaning there's more to do but it works enough to use. Instruments are next!

Also, since I often have 2 WaveBoys around for testing, I realized I can pretty make alt firmware to test my Digital CV ideas. It'll be interesting to see how well TTL works through op-amps and things and what speeds I can expect for various common cable lengths.

Next firmware release for WaveBoy will be 1.00 ๐
There may not be many changes from 0.66 but it's a milestone worth celebrating as all my original planned features are now implemented.
Definitely more features to work on! But it's a good time to stop for a bit and celebrate.
Yay I can post photos again!
Sorry for the lack of updates! Still trying to figure out why I can't attach images to posts. Put in orders for the next TurboWave PCB revision and am working on moving to a 1.00 firmware release for WaveBoy (I'll have a blog post about that on our website soon).
Doepfer Wasp hands down. Kind of a love it or hate it kinda thing. Red Dragon is a fun 2nd. Wasp works well for distorted sounds (shameless plug, like my WaveBoy module as the artifacts can nicely drive the waspy sound). Also pairs well with ExpertSleepers' Persephone.
RISCV has caused some drama too. I'd like to think it might avoid this, but being extensible and already having vendor specific stuff, I'm not sure. Would love to know your opinion given your awesome depth and knowledge (both historical and new) of computer ISAs and architecture.
Took a break from programming to make a 2nd PCB revision for TurboWave X1688. My ability to attach image is still busted :/ but big change is that it's mostly through hole. The few SMD-only components I'm looking at assembling myself.

I got some great help on the ATProto Discord. Still didn't solve it but I think I know where to look. Pretty sure my issue is relating to also using a PDS.
Adapter or free wires to jumpers to the breadboard would have been answer yup!
