The background inked, on the bottom panel! What can I tell you, I got the lettering laid out if not done on the next page, and the line work on this was enough to feel like progress. I may add a few more upraised arms to mass of heads, just for variety, but inks are inked.

The bottom half of the current page, with the background left in pencil for reasons of lettering vs toning. ‘Princess Redemption the Daylily’ was a bit of a mouthful, not to mention too cutesy, so she’ll be going by Widowheart from now on, but just as the Widow most times.

Pencils completed on the top half of the current page, but only the *top* of the top inked. I’m fine with that, because the finished lettering went a little little sideways and required some TLC on the inks, and here we are.

Finished inks on the big/long/tall panel, which over the last couple of days has gone from being the fun to simply the last one. I got some lettering and scanning/digital nonsense done as well, but nothing else worth posting, so, meh, progress continues apace.

Back in part eight I specifically had Lily say she’d give the idiot twins a talking to if they ever came back around. Unfortunately, she’s so het up as to utter awkward phrases like ‘leaving you with your pants on to wear!’

Lily’s speech was going fine, until it wasn’t. I got three panels done and inked two, but I’m saving the big/tall/whatever one for last, because that’s the fun one.

Inks on the final panel, including the Lily gutter inset close up, just so the big giant head’s placement in relation to the idiots twins makes sense. Alcide’s taking up main character page space, but all he did was take them some hot dogs, he swears.

Some pencils, some inks. I wanted to get the jiggery-pokery of the word balloons as panel borders dealt with, so I concentrated on the middle.

Yesterday’s pencils inked and some blues, just to define the target of Lily’s glower.

Her glower will get worse before it gets better, but I honestly haven’t decided if the idiot twins will end in redemption or dismemberment. They’ll survive the current story arc, though.

Sometimes the lettering and panel composition take a little longer because they’re one and the same, but I managed to get the gutter inset close ups of Lily penciled. The idiot twins should have stayed a bit farther out of sight, but here we are.

Just the one panel, but taking the time made it worth it, or something. Lily isn’t by any means observant, but ‘wolves were present in the garden of eden but did not eat the forbidden fruit and are thus exempt from sin’ is still an ethnic tenet so, yes, *VIRTUOUS*.

The bottom half of the current page, include yesterday’s weird little gutter inset, which will be a compositional motif continuing to through the next page. I’ll handle that one quarter page panel tomorrow, as the crowd scene will make it a bit of an ass-ache.

Some blues, some inks. Jez Lowe won’t write The Frozen Roman for several years on from when this strip is set, but I liked the line enough to use it anyway and plead artistic license.

Also, Lily’s making an effort, but the fancy talk is way too affected to last.

Just one panels today, but between prepping tomorrow’s substack post, scanning the last page and lettering this one, I’m sleeping fine tonight.

Lily has no problem admitting weakness, it’s just a good idea to seek cover in case she lashes out from embarrassment.

Completed inks on the current page. The hardest thing about this one? Having Three say ‘righteous’ when all my instincts wanted to go with ‘wicked.’

The top of the current page, fully inked. I’m not sure how obvious Three’s missing fingers are in this sequence, and that matters because naming a woman for her scars is a compliment in a matrilineal/local high-honor culture.

Page two of The Problem of Michigan Part Seventeen, fully pencilled with a couple of panels inked. Lily won’t be too happy with him, but Alcide is learning a valuable lessons about being bamboozled to fetch hot dogs.

I’m not sure I’ll ever fully flesh it out, but Faye and Three’s motorcycles vs mountain bikes debate is an important part of my head canon, which, as I’m the author, is also legit *canon* canon.
