I can still do that little Cat rap from Alphabet St, if I've had some rosé.

the idea that the demand of affluent people for strangers’ children is in tension with child welfare protections is actually correct. But of course in Anglophone countries, where #adoption is about making people into parents, the conclusion is “so much the worse for child welfare protections.”

Remember, this kind of thing is also what kickstarted the Korean #adoption industry.

'They told me he was dead': Children born near Kenyan army base learn truth about UK soldier dads A DNA and legal project has identified the fathers of 20 children born near a military base in Kenya.

Love the way the British Ministry of Defence pretend they knew nothing about this.

Lemme know if you find out. The racism thing might even be a voluntary post adoption course.

> Of course we also have the white adopters, who acknowledge the racialisation of their child. Like our friend and famous adoption advocate Pelle Hvenegaard, who fails to understand that travelling to their child's native country and writing books about, is merely perpetuating the colonialism.

I believe that it might be part of the compulsory training that Danish adopters must do. But I very much doubt it is sufficient nor that it touches on adoption being a racist act in itself. >

> But these adopters typically also fail to understand that the adoption itself, was a racist act to begin with.

The problem with white "progressive, colour blind" adopters, who adopt a non white child, is that they think structural racism doesn't affect them. So it's always a complete surprise to them, when their children experience racial discrimination or fall under strict immigration laws. #adoption >

You see, their white northern European adopters did not realise, that our stomacs cannot tolerate the enormous amounts of dairy that the Danish dairy industry, has managed to convince them to eat and drink in order to be healthy.

Calling yourself a lactose intolerant immigrant, is ignoring the blatant racism and thereby making it about you, and not the racialised person.

Incidentally, lactose intolerance is one of the major reasons why transnational and transracial adoptees, often spend most of their childhood in pain.

But what I find interesting is, that a common reaction you get from well meaning white Danes, is to say something like, "I'm also an immigrant, my mother is from Germany", or "I'm also lactose intolerant."

This is a misguided attempt at showing solidarity, and can be more harmful than helpful.

Roughly 80% of the world's population experience lactose intolerance, but only 5% in the northern European countries.

So we know this is a eugenics dog whistle and deeply racist.

As I understand it the premise is him debating, with an actual scientist, on whether certain genes determine culture, behaviour and how "Danish" you are. He gives the example of lactose intolerance saying that you can never be fully Danish if you cannot eat dairy.

Yesterday this man appeared on Danish national TV. He is a lawyer and a member of a small extreme right wing party, that just about managed to scrape their way into parliament, at the recent election.
I haven't watched the entire programme, because I really value my mental health. 🧵

Most people have little understanding on adoptions being a legal transaction of a child and not just about family relations.

I believe it was debated, a while back, but it turned out to be more complicated as it would also open up for adopters to be able to annul, without the adoptee's consent. 🥚

In Denmark, adoptees cannot annul their adoption without the adopters consent. I don't know what the rules are in other countries. 🥚

Der er mange fra Østasien, og Afrika, som kke kan tåle laktose. Dermed kan denne selverklærede racist bruge det som en hundefløjte for white supremacy eugenik og DR holder bare mikrofonen.
