The American people could also sanction the government. A nationwide labor strike would cripple the public-private supply chain needed to maintain a functioning military. And this would be far, far more effective than smaller nations sanctioning us.
Why even bother suggesting everyone else in the world has a responsibility to stand up to our government when we won’t? If the obvious calculus is “they’ll just kill us”, how much moreso is this the case for the untold millions of foreigners whose lives this country holds in such low regard?
