Thanks for the tip! I've occasionally seen an ad and thought "I wish I had a link to the video itself," which you'd think would be relatively easy to grab, right? I wonder if keeping it relatively hidden is an intentional decision on YouTube's part.

Is writing directly to the depth buffer an option? It's a bit more expensive to do custom depth writes but it should be the most consistent way to pull off what you're trying to achieve.
New blog post: a story about a sound effect and how it relates to culture.

The chef from Pixar's Ratatouille reading a note, but edited to put the "eye looking" emoji over his eyes.
Keep an eye out for my next monthly blog post. It's dropping in less than 24 hours and is definitely the wildest blog post I've written.
Tactical Nexus.
It's such an interesting concept, but it's also a massive time sink.
Sometimes when writing a Steam review, I worry that it's too short or isn't well written. But then I think "As a developer, would I mind if a review is too short?" and the answer is "generally, no."
A fun roguelike about swapping between characters. The design is smart and encourages/rewards skilled and fancy play; It's really satisfying to do a difficult trick shot and have the game reward you for it! The art and music are also top notch. Pick this up if you want some roguelike mayhem.

The sentiment of "AI is just a tool" is also one I disagree with. Technology doesn't exist in a vacuum; It affects the world and is affected by it.
IMHO, there was a time when the effects of GenAI were healthy (before the 2020s,) but we don't live in those times anymore.
The sentiment of "Gamers should embrace this technology that lets us make games faster" misses the point that creatives are making: GenAI as a process de-centers the humanity from art.

Mixed feelings on this one.
On the one hand, I'm sure that there's a lot of effort put into this game over the course of years by passionate developers.
On the other hand, Level 5's attitude on GenAI tools make it hard for me to be excited for this.
Maybe there's mouse support on Switch 2 but not Switch 1?
Does this texture have power of two dimensions? Game textures often have power of two sizes for various reasons.
How many games use zero rules?
I could too. *Pulls out hammer*
Despite being played with only one button, this rhythm game is challenging, complex, and wonderfully written.

The instructions to enter pre-existing passwords with uppercase letters implies this might be the case.
The character artist for Parallel Dungeons just released a really fun game! (also, I wrote about ten lines of code for it.)
In addition, people who own Parallel Dungeons can get a 10% discount on Jamhouse using the bundle we just launched.
This sounds scary. Do you have the technical details on how they were able to pull this off?
Cat 1: Soooooorrrryyyy, but I can't afford to pay you for the work you did. Cat 2: WHAT? You said Tencent was backing this! Cat 1: I said "ten cents" was backing this. Heh heh... heh? Cat 1 starts sweating. A newspaper article with Cat 1's face reads "Local cat sentenced to 5 days of Puzzle solving. 'wordplay no excuse for fraud!' says judge."
I've been meaning to draw more, so I forced myself to sketch out a silly comic. It's also set in the 5/N Step Steve universe because why not.
Artist's first episode has been added to the free demo of Parallel Dungeons: epicpikaguy.itch.io/parallel-dun...
In addition, the full game is 20% off on Steam right now as part of the Spring sale.
Speedrunners are very knowledgeable about the game and thus are very unlikely to pull up the help menu (especially since they're busy trying to go as fast as possible.)
Oh shoot I can't believe I got the name wrong. Oh well. Maybe we'll get an edit button here eventually.
(Disclaimer, I'm friends with a lot of people on the dev team) This is a simple but very well designed logic puzzle game. It takes the lofty premise of Islands Of Insight (battle royale game about solving puzzles) and refined it into a more focused single player experience that focuses on the core of the game: the puzzles. The puzzle solving interface is great, and despite the massive variety of puzzles on offer, each one is expertly crafted. Give it a play if you like pen-and-paper puzzles; And if you don't, you might develop an appreciation for them.

Steve from 5 Step Steve on the left, with "DLSS OFF". The "DLSS ON" version on the right looks noticeably worse. (this is a joke post
Pleased to announced that I am adding DLSS 5 to 5 Step Steve!
A 2d platforming/shooting game by the creator of Cave Story. Just like Cave Story, this game is fun and charming.

Parallel Dungeons is a very original take on the roguelike genre, give it a shot
Version 1.3 of Parallel Dungeons brings a new character: Artist!
All four of his episodes are now available to everyone who owns the game. Players who don't own the game will be able to play the first Artist episode in the soon to be updated demo.

The STS folks have done it again. When I first heard about the STS sequel, I was a little disappointed that the team was "just" doing another STS game. But now that I've played it, I can say that it's still a worthwhile game to play, even if you've played the first one. Plus, there's a lot of new systems here, such as the Balatro-style card enhancements, that interact with the existing systems in fun ways. And the new visuals are very polished and charming.

The new update for Parallel Dungeons is done, but I need some more time to test and release it. Kind of awkward as we're now at the point where I said I was going to be taking a break, but I guess things like this happen.
