This was the big breakthrough for me a couple of years ago now, to stop trying to be what other creators I admired are and do things the way they do, but just be what I am and do the things I like doing, and THEN work at getting better at those things.

An additional small point regarding today's art/follower discourse-having a lot of followers doesn't necessarily mean that 1) they're real 2) they're there for your art 3) they're there for the art you most want to make 4) they're both willing and able to support you monetarily
