First Avenger, because it literally showed us the next movie.
I sort of forgot that BlueSky existed. It’s funny how nothing after Twitter ever sticks long in my memory. Perhaps the very idea of communication in this abbreviated, pithy, shitty “microblogging” form was a bad idea from the start.
Demi Moore losing to Mikey Madison should be a post-credits scene to The Substance.
This is interminable.
Jaws: The Exhibition, you say? Hold me 2,000 tickets!
(I am surprised as anyone that apparently I missed livetweeting the Oscars. I didn’t even see more than three or so of these movies this year).
Yay Dune 2 x2
lol well, since this is clearly going to go long, I support any similar attempt to trim the runtime down
I missed it, putting kids to bed. What happened?
I just realized that Isabella Rossellini is wearing blue velvet in honor of David Lynch & immediately started to cry.
It makes me hopeful there’s a Lynch memorial coming up.
Oh man, Doja Cat was so pitchy.
Johnny Guitar, The Killer, Spellbound, School of Rock
Not a bad #LastFourWatched on this #LetterboxdFriday (do people do that here?). Going to maybe see Jackie Brown or maybe Star Trek II in the theater tonight.
It sadly feels like this buy nothing stuff today is going to be more productive as a way for self-righteous people to criticize folks already on our side than it will be making any kind of real impact on the corporations that need affecting.
People who nervously cap off long online posts with “thanks for coming to my TED Talk” or say “sir, this is an Arby’s” in response to others need to reevaluate their silly problem with hearing people express lengthy opinions (including themselves).
Everything that made James Bond special in our era of expanded blockbuster universes died today. It's a big win for growth-obsessed shareholders and franchise gluttons who care more about mindless mass consumption than being entertained.
Whatever made Bond special is done. They might make good movies. They might make terrible movies. But whatever they are, they are going to be far more corporate, far more conventionally minded. It's just another franchise now.
*shrug*
Honestly, what place does Bond have in 2025 anyway?
lol
On tenterhooks, waiting to find out what is on the green CD...
So, I'm finally checking out @puzzmo.com after hearing about it for a while. Some familiar old playable things @stfj.net made, which I like. I took a crossword construction class a while back with the puzzle editor, @xws.bsky.social, so happy to see her hand in it. Liking it so far, might subscribe.
Just deleted Discord off my phone. Felt good.
4 Screenshots from the movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (1966): First, a close-up of a wooden grave marker with "ARCH STANTON" and the date "3 FEBRUARY 1862" written on it, covered partially by a burlap cloth. The background shows a graveyard with wooden crosses and tombstones. Second, a wide shot of Blondie (played by Clint Eastwood) wearing a poncho and a cowboy hat, standing in a vast graveyard with many tombstones and crosses. He is speaking to Tuco (played by Eli Wallach), who faces him with a wary expression. Subtitle: "You see, in this world, there's two kinds of people, my friend." Third, Blondie raises his revolver slightly while maintaining eye contact with Tuco. The subtitle continues: "those with loaded guns, and those who dig." Fourth, a closer shot of Blondie turning slightly to the side, still holding his gun, as Tuco looks at him. Blondie delivers the final line with a commanding tone: "You dig." The graveyard remains in the background, emphasizing the tension and high-stakes confrontation.
Feb 3rd 1862 - Arch Stanton died. His grave is the one that Blondie claims contains the cache of Confederate gold.

Hello, elitist, secret, traditional friends. Anyone know if anyone is working to get the certificate thing fixed so I can log back in and tell people my opinions about crossword puzzles?
I totally agree with your take, but you were more politic about the back half of the film than I was. "Soap opera" is one way of putting it, I just think it took some very cheap turns. And I think the political message is muddled to say the least. But hey, still stunning looking for a $10M movie.
I can't tell if the spate of film/series about billionaires is motivated by genuine attempts to wrestle with income inequality or are being greenlit because the folks who hold the purse strings think any visibility will make their handlers happy? Or maybe production designers want to buy cool stuff?
No lie. #31DaysofOscar on TCM is going to keep me sane. I’m not kidding.

She's the leader of the party, because nobody else is.
I'm interested in seeing NICKEL BOYS but the more I read about it, the more I think I'd rather have a lighter, more relaxing movie to watch tonight. So, MULHOLLAND DRIVE it is, yet again.
