mind, this guy might be a huge muscular jock looking guy, but he was a very much bullied timid twig boy when he was young, so as he got older, he got attached to people who were nice to him, which one of them was eventually this person that he had feelings for, so when that tragedy hit... yeah

he messes up somehow due to his hangups, he over complicates things or doesn't try enough out of fear.
his background is one of the first serious (almost) relationship ended in tragedy traumatized him, so now he's perpetually stuck running away from his problems. this includes escapism.

Andy is pretty terrible at courtship, but he tries sincerely which is probably what's charming about him personality wise.

Salvatore on the other hand is very used to having people hit on them or declare attraction, but they're never interested, they just point out you have bad taste for it.

Salvatore is an exceptionally bad cook, but good survivalist, most of the stuff they make for themselves is just cooked meat on a fire BUT they probably do fry stuff in lard or tallow every so often, like fish, and that probably tastes good.
anyways they eat out a lot due to the nature of their job

as they come off as incredibly callous, and psychopathic on top of selfish.
Salvatore is... kind of rough but they also have their own way of expressing kindness. It's just not nice. They struggle with empathy.

Salvatore really doesn't like Andy, mostly because they see him as someone who squanders their life because to them, Andy seems perfectly capable of having the strength to pursue what he wants and make changes, and live how he wants, but he doesn't. And Sal sees restraint as weakness of character.
