NUS president Wes Streeting: 'Moving to the right on tuition fees makes sense', 2009.
Once a hot-bed of far-left politicking, the National Union of Students is getting real. Under the presidency of Wes Streeting, 26, a Labour Party supporter and veteran student activist, the NUS has reformed its structures, eradicated its debt and even embraced the principle that students should pay tuition fees.
That puts them to the right of the Liberal Democrats who have recently reaffirmed their commitment to free higher education for all

– On 27 November 2024, Reader was elected as the new chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Infrastructure. Prior to being elected, Reader was ‘Work Winning Director‘ at global consultancy and construction firm Mace. So we have someone who was previously in charge of bidding for large government contracts for a multinational private firm now on the inside facilitating more lucrative infrastructure contracts for the private sector.
– Reader also worked at APMP, a paid subscription service that helps private companies win contracts, and was a National Director at construction and infrastructure consultants Pick Everard. – The Infrastructure APPG is sponsored (via benefits in kind) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (aka ICE), who advocate for government “use of public money – and other levers available to government – to attract private investment.” In other words, public-private partnerships. They also advocate for “closer collaboration with the supply chain and less political interference” and say “the government should engage people more about how infrastructure investment meets their needs and the benefits of private sector involvement.” ICE are focused on “transport, water and energy systems”. Their 2025 infrastructure briefing document states “Many PFI deals are now ending, prompting wariness about any potential bad news stories around excessive returns and poorly maintained assets falling back into the public sector. Managing the narrative, being transparent and demonstrating that lessons are being learned will be key to avoiding spooking investors or alarming the public about the role of private investment in infrastructure.”
-Mike Reader has made it clear that it is private global investors, not the public sector in the UK, that should be behind the building of our water, transport and energy infrastructure. He also states that abandoning PFI and PPPs (public private partnerships) is “misguided”.

– In 2024 Reader joined the MoD Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme on the recommendation of Tan Dhesi MP, opting for both the Navy and the Army programmes. As part of the scheme he visited UK soldiers on their army base in Cyprus – the base from which surveillance missions over Gaza for Israel are conducted.
– Landlord: Reader receives a rental income from a property in Rushden.
– Donations and gifts:
– £10k from UK businessman Adam Parr, formerly CEO of Formula One, Barclays, senior executive at global mining group Rio Tinto and venture capitalist (who also donated to Emma Reynolds).
– £10k from Gary Lubner, an Israel lobbyist who is alleged to have profited from South African apartheid.
– £5k from the scandal-hit Labour Together* group (Labour’s super PAC funded by pro-Israel figures such as Trevor Chinn and hedge fund private health financiers such as Martin Taylor).
– Flights to Bahrain paid for by the Armed Forces Parliamentary Trust who are funded by Airbus UK, Babcock, BAE Systems, Boeing Defence UK, DXC Technology, Elbit Systems, General Dynamics UK, Leonardo UK, Lockheed Martin, MBDA, QinetiQ, Raytheon UK and Rolls-Royce (major arms and defence tech manufacturers).
– In March 2024, Reader went on a free trip to Israel paid for by LFI (Labour Friends of Israel).
– Reader voted in favour of the cuts to disability benefits (1.7.25), described as a “sham of a bill“. Despite concessions, the cuts are still a £2bn cut to UC affecting 750k new claimants.
– Did not sign the 2025 motion to introduce an annual wealth tax.
– Reader chose not to sign the July 2025 letter by parliamentarians calling on the Foreign Secretary to enforce sanctions on Israel.

Mike, is the answer a huge PFI project?
Will your former employers benefit?

Anthony Watson, the CEO of this dodgy crypto clearing house (the Bank of London) was a donor to three Labour MPs:
💰 Liz Kendall, £3,500
💰 Angela Eagle, £10,000
💰 Maria Eagle, £2,000
And Mandelson was a former director.
Interesting that the company got such a small fine.

Most of us are going to suffer a great deal as a result of the fall out of this war - but Reform donors will make a pretty penny.
They're just Tories on steroids.

Corbyn and left Labour MPs voted against the Osborne-Cameron bill.
Numerous members of the current cabinet shamefully abstained on that bill.
Even when Corbyn was leader a large % of the PLP were right wingers/Blairites.
You seem confused by the basics of the makeup of the Labour party here.
