Work in progress 🦉 - When painting owls there is always this moment during the mid-level details to fine details when I ask myself why I chose a bird with a thousand tiny feathers and whisker-like filaments. They're incredible to paint, but they can be time consuming.

Inking on the Osprey is finished 🦅. This stage shows the lines or bones of the artwork before paint. I’m happy with how the clouds and tree line turned out.
Next is the impasto layer 🎨 which creates the depth and texture originals are known for.

I spent some time over the weekend working on the Mallard. 🦆
I worked on the front foot and started refining a few details. Once it’s dry, I’ll be adding more color glazing and fine-tuning the textures.
It feels nice to be back with the paints again.
