⭕️ EU, France, UK, Spain, Italy, Belgium Call for Lebanon to Be Included in Ceasefire A chorus of European voices is pressing Israel to extend the U.S.-Iran ceasefire to Lebanon, where Israeli strikes have killed at least 256 people and wounded 1100 since the truce was announced Tuesday. 🇪🇺 EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said Israeli actions are “putting the U.S.-Iran ceasefire under severe strain” and that “the Iran truce should extend to Lebanon.” 🇫🇷 French President Emmanuel Macron condemned “indiscriminate” Israeli strikes, warning they “pose a direct threat to the sustainability of the ceasefire.” 🇬🇧 UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper called the strikes “deeply damaging,” saying Britain wants Lebanon “included in the ceasefire.” 🇪🇸 Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said Netanyahu’s “contempt for life and international law is intolerable” and also called for Lebanon’s inclusion. Spain is reopening its embassy in Tehran following the U.S.-Iran ceasefire.

🇮🇹 Italy separately urged Israel to halt its bombardment. Prime Minister Meloni accused Israel of "disrespecting" the fragile two-week truce recently brokered between the U.S. and Iran by continuing its bombardment of Lebanon. 🇧🇪 Belgian Foreign Minister, Maxime Prévot, was personally caught in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut yesterday, when he was visiting the Belgian embassy to meet with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. A massive missile strike hit just "a few hundred meters" away from his location. He called for Israel to end the bombings of Lebanon as well.

Kaja Kallas @kajakallas Hezbollah dragged Lebanon into the war, but Israel’s right to defend itself does not justify inflicting such massive destruction. Israeli strikes killed hundreds last night, making it hard to argue that such heavy-handed actions fall within self-defence. Israeli actions are putting the U.S.-Iran ceasefire under severe strain. The Iran truce should extend to Lebanon. Hezbollah must disarm. The EU supports Lebanon’s efforts to disarm Hezbollah.
