“My…” Oleander blinked. “My ‘world?’”
Eadmund turned back, looking at one of the cave walls.
“You seem confused,” the beast teased. He held up a wooden bowl. “Here.”
Oleander was served soup. Surprisingly, it was delicious, flavorful beyond that his ingredients were capable of. It took all his power not to just devour it.
“It’s because I am. Where is there a cave in the center of the wood?”

Oleader whimpered. “Eadmund? He had a hard time parsing through his thoughts. “Where are we?”
“My home.” He moved away from the fire. He settled near Oleander but kept him bundled up. “A cave, one in the center of my wood.”
He blinked. He’d been in the forest many times now. There *were* no caves.
The night came back to him. Johan attacking him, choking him. Eadmund bursting through the roof to save him, consequentially getting attacked himself and his ear being mutilated. Oleander killing Johan.
His eyes widened, and he sat up straighter.
“Oleander?” Eadmund paused. “Is something wrong?”
After that, he woke up.
He heard the gentle pops and felt the heat of a small fire. He was bundled in a blanket far warmer than any he ever owned. Whatever bedding he was lying in was soft, even with its ambient firmness.
He settled and stretched. After rubbing his eyes, he saw Eadmund at the fire.

The night after that passed by in a blur. The last thing Oleander remembered was Eadmund helping him make a complete mess of their house. They raided as much of the food stores as they could before the amount of belongings would get too heavy.
Exhaustion from the evening got to him.
