This Cameron Picton debut is pretty great overall, and incredibly good at times. Considered along Greep's 2024 debut (and Simpson's various projects of which I know less) it was clearly very productive for Black Midi to break up.
Two beloved everyday minor inconveniencies:
1.) Two parties email on a particular issue on-and-off over a period: one keeps sending new emails instead of keeping the thread
2.) An email thread with several people: some respond to mails further down instead of the latest, which fragments the thread.

Jag tror att en skilland i perspektiv här är också det ligger mycket närmare till hands för mig att tänka "hedonism" från ett Mark Fisher-perspektiv på samtiden, mer så än borgerliga (ursäkta uttrycket) "livsnjutare".
A distinction without a difference sett till samtida sociala-medier-tyckar-kultur. Jag och vad går in i varandra just där. Och jag har inte sagt något om att reklam eller tro sig gilla.
Du förklarar vad som utmärker ”principen för hedonism” i en skeet ovan och förklarar vad hedonisten enbart gör i en annan. En definition kan jag tycka. Och det var jag som drog = mellan vad du kallar hedonism och vad jag kallade njutningsmänniskan. Spelar inte så stor roll dock.
Det du efterfrågar påminner om samtida sociala-medier-driven åsikts- och varukultur – narcissistisk specificitet i vad JAG gillar/hatar. Din definition av hedonism = ”njutningsmänniskan”. Men jag reagerade snarare på att ”borgerlig förljugenhet” skulle ha ett vitalt förklaringsvärde för samtiden...
Ok så typ samma princip, men den från specificitet abstraherade kategorin är vidare och än mer flexibla ("njutningsmänniskan")
Problemet är väl snarare abstrahering från specifika upplevelser (av ett vin, en föreställning, en låt, etc.) till generella preferenskategorier (jag gillar vin, jag gillar teater, etc.).
Or: Classical right-wing appropriation of the strategy of détournement. Mixed with... correct assessments of some of the affective content of the filmic material (character focalization, angles, music, atmosphere, un-intention othering etc.).
